Favorite Road magazine?

A lot of cyclists think Bicycling mag is a joke, But I don't care bout that. I just renewed. That and Cycle sport are the two that I read on a regular basis.

I like Cycling weekly (UK) and Bicycling Australia Magazine.

I have had a subscription with Bicycling Australia and Ride for a couple of years now. Use to get Cyclesport (UK) and Procycling, but they have started getting a bit to local and filled up with useless stuff like pub crawls around London before the prologue

Great fitness/diet tips, etc.

I feel that bicycling mag has good snipets of tips for diet and training but lacks in full length articles. This past month's had a good one on Critical Mass rides but for the most part the feature article have been sub standard, in my opinion. Do any of you agree?

I completely agree. I could never get into Bicycling Magazine. Seemed they were like the "Backpacker" magazine of the hiking/climbing world. Not too much depth and the same stuff over and over again. Lacking the real "grit" of the sport in my opinion.

Now, that's just my tastes and it is obviously liked by a lot of people, just not me.

Used to be Cycle Sport ........but they took several editorial stands over the years about how they were not going to feature riders who doped...........and then proceeded to fill page after page about Armstrong etc.

I'm fortunate that I get to travel to mainland Europe quite a bit - so I tend to buy magazines in Italy, France.
Recommend CyclingPro (www.cycling.it) : good mag, good features, 200+ plus pages for €5.00.

I am not very knowledgeable regarding the English publications, but in terms of European magazines in Italian and French (the languages that I am comfortable reading) I would suggest:

Italian:
- Cyclingpro (as Lim suggested)
- Ciclismo (more of a general publication that does a decent job of providing full coverage of all cycling disciplines) - www.ciclismonline.it
- Bicisport (complete focus on pro racing) - http://www.compagniaeditoriale.it/bicisport/default.asp

French
- L' acheteur Cycliste (very oriented towards equipment testing and the like) http://www.lacheteurcycliste.com/

Sorry. The only European magazines we get here are from Britain and I don't like them very much. They talk funny and anything they put a price to is in pounds; I prefer to spend my money, not weigh it. 😄

Actually, I only picked up a few magazines for the first time this last month. some of them ARE British mags but since this is my first time seeing any of them I really can't help you.

Bicisport is very very good, PP.

I buy the Italian mags when I can - although my Italian is so bad it takes me about three months to read/understand the content!

I like Cycling Plus out of the UK. I subscribe to Cycle Sport USA and have been recently been picking up Road Action...they all rate highly in my opinion.

Lim, I think that Bicisport has, by far, the best photos of the sport. Their articles are a bit uneven, but given the quality of their photography it is still worth it to buy their magazines!
