  1. According to my fitday records, the lowest I ate per day was 900 calories
and the highest was 1500 calories. Most days I barely ate 1100 calories on
    induction foods.

True, in the fat fast I'm eating 1000-1050 calories a day, but that's what,
50-100 calories less than I was eating? Obviously the calories are not the
    trigger, but the fat.

If you eat 90% fat, your body is forced to burn the fat on your body. You
can read this in Dr. Atkins book. The fat fast is not even Dr. Atkins work,
but someone elses. Your body is forced into Lipolysis and Ketosis. Your body
burns 1) carbs 2) protein 3) fat. Atkins works by restricting #1. The
fat-fast works by restricting #1 and #2, leaving your body to HAVE TO burn
the fat. I've just proved it in 4 days where I lost 5 lbs, whereas on
induction levels I lost 2 lbs per week for the past 2 weeks. You still doubt
    it?

    ???

so, you switched to 1000 kcals/ day of almost all fat...and you lost
weight. But prior you were eating more kcals.

For all you know, you had lost some of that weight prior to starting the
fat fast....sometimes weight loss happens after you would have expected
    it. This proves nothing.

    ::
:: Simply put, the fat-fast works and it's true that while eating more
:: substantially more fat, you will lose weight, primarily fat.

Geuses, you're so unthinking it's funny. You only ate 1000 kcal / day for
5 days. There's no magic there. You simply eat a greater precentage of
fat than anything else. But if you really believe that you can eat
unlimited amounts of fat and lose weight, when don't you just up your
calories to about 4000 / day and see what happens. If you do that, since
you're eating more fat, you should lose more weight, right?

    I'm not

  2. Eat this for five straight days

    Breakfast:

4 egg yolks (hard-boiled) with 2 tablespoons of mayo
    2 oz cream cheese
    (600 calories)

    Lunch:

    24 macademia nuts
    (400 calories)

    Dinner

    4 oz cream cheese
    (400 calories)

    Other
3.5 oz of tunafish with 1 tbsp mayo
    (200 calories)

2 oz of carb options peanut butter
    (350 calories)

Yum yum! It's hard to even come up with enough foods on the fat-fast to
equal 2000 calories. There's no variety and there are no real meals. Good
    luck, & report back.

  3. Induction is also very low calorie.

I ate a low calorie, high carb diet and didn't lose a pound in two weeks.

I ate a low calories, low carb diet and lost 10 lbs during induction.

Surely, all calories are not the same.

  4. The fat-fast requires 75 to 90% of your calories come from fat, so of course
    it is not 100% fat.

The highest I've had was 92% one day, lowest was 75%.

Doubt what? Most folks who are prediabetic lose great on Atkins...those who
are highly insulin resistant lose great too. So nothing in surprising.
However, I don't believe you lost 5 lbs of real fat in 4 days not after
being on induction first...I think you probably lost some of that weight
before while you were on induction...it's just now showing up on the scales.
Also, you're probably losing some muscle as well as fat.

  9. Yeah eat the meals at any time, in any combination. You can skip the nuts
and just eat more of something else. You can eat just cream cheese, egg
yolks and peanut butter. Don't forget a veggie salad to get you through the
times where you're feeling a bit sluggish. See how much you lose. My fast is

Split it up into 3 parts and stand between eating each.

  13. I never realized how low calorie (my) atkins is. I just started using
    Fitday (which I
had used before but never really paid attention to.) The carbs aren't
    really accurate
on Fitday because they don't do net carbs (you have to do it yourself
    via the custom
window); but on Fitday, I did notice that I rarely even have a 1000
    calorie day. In
fact, yesterday I had had wasa, cream cheese, chicken, suisse mocha (2
    carbs!!!), olives, soy
milk (soy slender), blue cheese, all bran with fiber--and barely topped
    600 calories. I
was looking at nutritional needs--and finally broke down and took a vitamin.

Though, to be honest, I'm a female, not quite five feet tall--and I
    really really don't
eat that much--at least now that I'm watching carbs. Without bread,
    pasta, potatoes,
flour, sugar and cokes...I find it takes very little food to satisfy
    me. Of course, I did
have a major trauma get me started back to low carbing. And really, I
    was at the
fattest of my life, too, when this whole thing started. I am just
    about at the point
where I was in 2002-3 when I used to come here all of the time.

I'm Allie by the way. I think my old address was bookally. Hi to anyone who
remembers me. Some of the same people are still here--i remember
    Saffire (waves!)

Hah, ok I'm stopping right there, I know I couldn't do this. I feel a

  17. Just be careful... Eating a diet high in fat (with low or no protein)
ultimately leads to muscle breakdown (since your body needs protein,
and the only source in that situation is existing muscle). So don't do

Eating a very high fat diet is not the same thing as eating so much fat as

Period. That's all I said. Eating more and more fat will not lead to

Are you stupid or what? Eating a high-fat diet isn't the same thing as

    TC...don't be stupid...if you don't know that I EAT A HIGH-FAT DIET by
    now, you're a complete moron...

What I was attempted to point out is that you can't just eat MORE FAT and
expect to keep losing weight. i.e, eating more fat doesn't equate to more
fat loss, though eating a high-fat diet can, under the appropriate
circumstances. Of course, I don't expect you to believe that since you
think thta only carbs make people fat.

More of your "the world according to TC" logic.

Make up your mind...in other posts you said you lost only fat, now you're

Based on your weight and eating of 1000 kcal/day, I don't think you lost 5
lbs in 4 days. No. I can believe that the scale changed by that much, but I
don't believe you really lost that weight in 4 days. You were probably
holding on to water weight for some reason, and the fat fast freed it up.

If you really think this works, then why don't you do this: Do a fat fast
every other week....one week on and one week off. Just do induction in the
week you're off the fat fast so you don't gain any back. You'll be to goal
in no time as you'll lose at least 10 lbs a month, maybe more!
