There is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate. You CAN live
    without them. Totally.

Try living on pure fat long enough and you will die. The body needs

You know well and good that fat is not evil!

Sugar, that raises your tryglycerides out the roof, is what clogs

Exactly. And the fact you never really have a meal of any sort, unless you

Just a suggestion for those that want to test it for themselves. Do it for 4
    days, then post back.

Really though, the Atkins diet is outstanding. Why the media and people are
blind to the fact, I'll never know. 172 to 153 in six weeks and healhier
than ever, never hungry and eating foods I love like steak every day. Ribs!
Grilled chicken! Salad! All while cutting my soda habit and never even white
bread or white rice again. Gotta love it.

    Agreed. ;-)

I have used fat fasting for up to 5 days to break sticking points, but
it's a [censored] to stay on as I'm hungry all the damned time. :-P

  5. I suggest you read my posts completely.

I never said I was going to eat nothing but fat for the rest of my life. I
said it was 4-5 days, what Dr Atkins suggested.

If balance means avoiding large amount of carbs while eating generous
amounts of protein and fat, I agree with you.

  6. I think it would be impossible to eat enough fat to stop weight loss. You'd
probably throw up by then or not be hungry at all. Someone should go on a
2,000 calorie, 90% fat diet and see what happens. However, I agree with the
previous poster... carbs make you fat due to insulin. Fat does not make you
    fat.

  11. Well, those foods are not just fat. Macadamia nuts are 89% fat, 3% carbs (2
of those are fiber), and 4% protein. Cream cheese is 88% fat, 3% carbs (no
fiber) and 9% protein. So, although it is a fat fast, it is not completely
fat. So everyone who is discussing whether it is okay to eat nothing but
fat longterm is not talking about eating this type of food. They must be
discussing the olive oil drinkers diet. If you eat 2000 calories worth of
cream cheese you will get 15 g carb and 43 g protein along with the fat,
2000 calories of macadamia nuts gives 13 net carbs, 26 fiber, and 20
    protein.

The fat fast is also very low calorie.

    ???

so, you switched to 1000 kcals/ day of almost all fat...and you lost weight.
But prior you were eating more kcals.

For all you know, you had lost some of that weight prior to starting the fat
fast....sometimes weight loss happens after you would have expected it.
    This proves nothing.

    ::
:: Simply put, the fat-fast works and it's true that while eating more
:: substantially more fat, you will lose weight, primarily fat.

Geuses, you're so unthinking it's funny. You only ate 1000 kcal / day for 5

than anything else. But if you really believe that you can eat unlimited
amounts of fat and lose weight, when don't you just up your calories to
about 4000 / day and see what happens. If you do that, since you're eating
more fat, you should lose more weight, right?

    I'm not

You're not thinking this true and you don't understand much about weight

Oh, I've read the damn book.

Now, grasshopper....when you weight 155ish..and you eat 1000 kcals / day for
5 days, do you think all you'll lose is fat? Do you really think all the
weight you *think* you lost is fat?

  20. Calories don't count if you're doing a high carb, low fat diet. I ate only
1200 calories a day in baked potatoes and other "good food" and couldn't
lose a pound in two weeks. Once I cut the carbs, the weight plowed off me.
    All calories are not equal.

Period. That's all I said. Eating more and more fat will not lead to
    more
    weight loss.

    What fact?

Are you stupid or what? Eating a high-fat diet isn't the same thing as
eating enough fat to prevent weight loss.

    ::
:: Time to rethink your beliefs. Fat does not make fat. Carbs do.

    TC...don't be stupid...if you don't know that I EAT A HIGH-FAT DIET by
    now,
    you're a complete moron...

What I was attempted to point out is that you can't just eat MORE FAT and
expect to keep losing weight. i.e, eating more fat doesn't equate to
    more
fat loss, though eating a high-fat diet can, under the appropriate
circumstances. Of course, I don't expect you to believe that since you
think thta only carbs make people fat.

More of your "the world according to TC" logic.

No matter WHAT diet plan you are following, calories still count.....

Atkins fat fast is set at 1,000 kc.
