1. And some not-so-fat tires commuting downtown in one of the recent, multiple, repeated, never ending, bone chillingly cold Global Warming©™® blizzards.

  2. Cool! Thanks for posting that.

I am such a wuss. I haven't been out there in what, 2 weeks now. And, that sucks!

I AM going in the morning. Forecast is clear to pt cloudy, air temp 0 to -2, windchill -10 to -15. What's not to love?

  3. Cleveland has a decent cycling scene, but commuting on a clear, sunny summer day is dangerous in many areas. And the vehicular traffic is also dangerous!

There are a few bike lanes (and more coming this year). The Metropolitan Park system is awesome for riding and they built an outdoor velodrome right in the heart of the old Slavic Village ghetto. Riding the track requires a fixed gear bike and a repeating firearm in your jersey pocket.

  4. Not here. Detroit proper, very dangerous. The nicer burbs, well, might get run over by some ass in a Beamer or Benz who is texting or talking, but crime per se, nada. Hence one reason MBB loves where he lives. Bloomfield Hills, Baby! We rock!

Ok so let's suppose that you are riding a bike in Detroit Proper. Except from the dogs, the potholes, the pot-hoes and the traffic what else could go wrong?

Would you get somebody coming to you and telling you "What are you doing on my sidewalk?" or something?

  6. Probably. Junkies, crack ho's, gang bangers. I intend to never find out. I'm adventurous, but I don't have a death wish. There are a few very nice commercial areas and neighborhoods in Detroit proper, but most of it is a real mess.

Now that's something we dont have around here..

  8. I've noticed these things starting to be sold in Australia, the tyre width is insane.

  9. Also good for sand and loose gravel trails.
