36km/h, 80km, alone, r550s, testosterone imbalance maybe? EPO possibly? Take up cycling as a sporrt, get some real aero wheels and race, that is bloody quick.

Sorry, I don't want to turn this into an off-topic spamfest, but I don't take none of that [censored] . I've been training everyday for almost 10 years now and I spend 3-4 months a year away on training camps and for 7-8 months of the year, I train twice daily. I've finished 4th at the world champs twice, and rowing is one of the most doping test intensive sports which until recently had lifetime ban for first time doping offender.
I'm a good athlete, I have a big motor compared to my size, which makes me go faster than most on a road bike. I cannot compare to top cyclist aswell as I can compare to top rowers. Rowing is almost 50% technique which I'm also pretty good at. The best rowers my size (lightweight have 6 l VO2/min, (I only have 5.4 l VO2/min), so I'd be a pretty bad rower if I took EPO or whatever and only had 5.4 l VO2/min.

Strid, your strong aerobic motor obviously helps cycling a lot. I'm believe that rowing does have a lot of crossover to cycling too. Seems to me that quads, glutes, lower back make the power, same as on a bike.

A cyclist/rower here got me into rowing lessons with the local club recently. She raced both bikes and crew in college and is still tough. Have to agree the technique is much harder on rowing; it's more like speedskating, but while staying in perfect time. We only rowed "all eights" a couple of times, and it wasn't pretty at all.

  3. just an anecdote about big guys and light wheels.

Yesterday I was speaking to the brother of Aus Olympian Kilo rider, Shane Kelly, who's a strong rider, about 6ft1", and (I'm guessing) ~210lbs.

He tried the alu Dura-Ace wheels, but hated them because they were way too flexy, and he went back to his Eurus

I believe you. don't worry, I was poking fun which maybe I shouldn't have done. It was also a jibe at the fact as soon as someone sees a good performance, everyone speculates on what drugs they had taken (Floyd anyone)

No offence taken, mate! Yeah, the whole Floyd thing is very unfortunate, we had been better off without it. Bad that it causes so many speculation.

Anyways, seem like Campagnolo got a sligt edge over custom built and Ksyrium ES wallet-killer.

  6. If you add eurus and fulcrum racing 1 together (basically the same wheel) then you have a clear winner.
The fact that the ES is in second shows Mavic spends thier marketing well

Mavic are the masters of marketing, their wheels are overpriced, not light, and have quite bad hubs and seals, not to mention flex. I have heard nothing but good things about Eurus.
