He's taken so many it is taking an age to download and develop the
good ones. He has a reputation to kep up so can't just throw up any
old snap. :-)

Thanks for the excuse Phil (which is partially right, I did take a load),
but the real reason is actually my 6 year old nephew who's been dumped on me
all week since he's off school, and I haven't had a spare moment yet...

I'll try to get them online soon, but I've still got another day with him,
so maybe not until Saturday.

I've just added some grid refs to my blog by the way, in a new post. You
might be interested in comparing the vampire grid refs Phil.

Hi Paul, I see that my old GPS 12 references for the Vampire and the
Wellington are remarkably good considering they weren't even averaged
and non Egnos.

Either I didn't see the memorial cairn at the Wellington or it has been
built since I was there - who knows (?)

Yes. Excellent stuff! I like the transitions from text to photos,
which download and display quickly. I think it's very professional
(although I haven't read all the text yet :^).

If you mean the way the photos fade in when you click on the thumbnails,
yes, it's cool isn't it? It's a WordPress plugin that a friend told me about
called IMP Auto Slimbox. More information and a link here:

text reports aren't so interesting when you don't know an area, but having
pics as well helps you to visualise it.

but I invariably open an Anquet map at the same time in order to
understand better the area he is describing. I have found that reading
his comments like that has illustrated a lot about walking in the
Highlands, albeit vicariously for someone stuck in London!

Yes, using a map helps a lot! And if you're really keen, flying over the
route in a flight sim is even better!

I don't think I mentioned this, but there was a urw expedition in the Lake
District a while back, which I didn't attend of course, but I made a point
of flying around the route at the same time they were doing it, using
real-world weather conditions downloaded from the internet as I flew.

I'm sure it wasn't exactly the same as being there, but in a virtual sense,
it felt a bit like I was there with them, "in spirit" as it were.
