  1. It all started Monday when I weighed in and was UP from 231.8 to 231.9. I was so discouraged! I have
been on a downhill slide ever since. I'm very good about counting my points at breakfast and lunch,
but I am so hungry by the afternoon that I am ready to eat anything in sight and sometimes do. On
Wednesday nights our church cooks a meal and serves it for a small donation to help the Sunday
School department and tonight I had a bowl of vegetable soup AND gumbo (which I had never tried and
never will again ) crackers, a grilled cheese sandwich AND pie!!! WHAT is wrong with me??? WHY CAN'T
I SAY NO??? I guess I'm reporting for my tongue lashing. It will make me feel better. I'm starting
all over again tomorrow. I may not weigh in again until NEXT Monday. It seems so easy for all of
you. HOW do you DO it???

  2. Oh trust me it ain't as easy as it seems! I have the same problems with eating everything in sight
somedays... it's SO weird. It's like, I KNOW I should eat healthy and on points and all and I
deliberately sabotage myself into disaster or something. I weighed 245 last JULY and I'm just now
starting to get back down into the 230s (hopefully will be there by this week's weigh-in on
Friday!) Anyway, what I mean to write is that we've all been where you are and we've all just
started over again the next day. Don't worry about it... we're you really only up a tenth of a
pound? That's hardly ANYTHING really. It could've been too much air in your lungs for that
matter... lol... my point is, don't sweat the small stuff. Just hang in there and do your best the
    next day. You'll be fine.

Oh my, that is such a little weight gain, but I know from past experience that any gain is hard. Try
to have the attitude that tomorrow is another day!! Wipe the slate clean and start tomorrow off on a
good foot, maybe by Monday you will show a loss! I am also hungry in the afternoon, I have been
having some low point snacks like today I had a whole sandwich which was only 3 points!! I used
light bread (1 point), light cheese (1 point), and 2 slices of turkey (also 1 point). I put lettuce
and pickles on it and it was delicious! I also pop lite popcorn or have a ww bar that is 2 points.
Try to find something low in points that you can eat and hang in there!!

  4. First of all you had a tenth of a pound gain. You could have had a full bladder, or retained some
fluids in your body to cause that to happen. Such a small gain is not reason to fall off program and
give up. Don't wait until tomorrow to get back on program, get back on program right now. Drink some
more water and go for a walk. Little things are what add up to the losses you are looking for.

Stop beating yourself up for a small slip, realize that it is not WILLpower but WANTpower that gets
us through this. What are you wanting out of this? If you are wanting a healthier and happier you,
then work towards that and the weight will soon follow in its footsteps.

  6. No tongue lashing, just dust yourself on and start again. A bad day or couple of days doesnt mean
giving up. Forgive and start again. Maybe you need to add a snack in the afternoon. I have a fruit
and a yogurt ( only 1.5 points in total) about 5 pm to ward of the afternoon munchies. As to the
Wednesday, why not have a 0 point filling vegetable soup before you go so you are not so hungry,
saying no would be a bit easier then. Good luck and don't give up you can do this. Michelle Ozzie in

  7. Easy???? No way! It is a constant battle of wills, for me - even while on maintanence. There are
always things constantly calling my name ... such as the most recent addition of girl scout cookies.
But I tell myself that I want to stay where I'm at more than I want that silly little cookie. And
when I was in the losing phase, I told myself I wanted to lose more than I wanted .... whatever. IF
I chose to have an item, I made sure it worked into the plan .. if not on that day, then during the
next. That's the wonderful thing with ww - you can get right back into the swing of things at the
next possible opportunity. You can also choose to increase your activity for a few days, to aid in
working off those indulgences. It's all up to us how we want to handle them.

A one tenth of a pound gain is nothing to fret over - call it practicing maintenance. If you've been
having some good losses, it could very well be that your body is just taking a bit of a break while
it re-adjusts itself. This seems to be a fairly common issue. Then all of a sudden, a big loss will
appear and things get back to *normal* with the losses.

Another thing that worked for me (but you have to decide for yourself) is to face the music - so to
speak. I never skipped a weigh-in, even if I knew what the results were going to be. By avoiding,
all I did was play a head game with myself. If skipping works positively for you, then go for it - I
only know that for me, it would have made it too hard to go the next time or to even bother with
    getting back on track.

    Hang in there!

  8. A couple of pieces of advice (from someone who, like everyone else here, has struggled tremendously)--
first, remember if you are adding any kind of physical activity or if you are eating more than normal--
even if it's healthy food--you will show a gain for the first few weigh in's, it'll soon pass!!
Second, try adding a little more low point protein to your morning meal or snack. I have found on
the mornings I eat an egg or some meat or have a protein shake I'm less hungry than on the mornings
I have cereal or starchy foods. Third, when the hunger strikes grab a low point, no point vegi.
You'll probably find that after a few days of "forcing" yourself to eat them you'll start craving
them!! Also, add water to your diet. I find the days that I drink my water I'm less hungry, on the
days I don't I eat everything in sight. Finally and most importantly remember you are human!! We all
have days where we don't follow our eating plan exactly as we plan, it happens. I've said before,
skinny people have days where they "pig out" too, we just need to learn to do it once in a while,
not everyday--a concept I had a very hard time overcoming!!! Come to the board often for support and
if you feel like eating, pop in, read some posts, maybe post a thing or two and see if the feeling
    goes away!!!

You can do this, you will do this, you have lots of support here!!!!

  9. First, start being nice to yourself. You are human and it takes time to change your eating habits.
Try to substitute hot decaf tea, fruit and vegetables for pie. Also, I find that if I can get
involved with a book, a quilt, or another project, eating becomes less of a problem. Another good
tip that I got a meeting is to plan your food for next day. Even if you change your mind, you start
    out with a workable plan.

  10. It's definitely not easy. I found quitting smoking easier and studies show that smoking is more
addictive than heroin, if that puts it into perspective.

This is how you'll eat for the rest of your life. You can't expect yourself to never "indulge" or
have an off night. If you're hungry, eat. There's no reason why anyone should go hungry while trying
to lose weight (obviously, it's *what* we eat that makes the difference), so have little low point
snacks throughout the day. Look at what you're eating - some foods give you more "bang for your
buck" than others. For example, wholewheat toast with a bit of low fat peanut butter will keep me
feeling fuller longer than a low fat granola bar (because of the high sugar content). If you eat too
much one night, make up for it the next day by eating a little less. Honestly, it will work if you
take control of it and have a plan. Count those extra points, figure out how much more you need to
exercise that week or how many points to take away in the next few days to balance it out.

So while it's not easy, it IS possible. Just get back in there fightin'. 😉

    Cheers, Petal

On sunday I ate too much. On monday I was back OP. Tuesday I was back OP. Wednesday work was hell
and when I got home I felt terrible we went out for a meal and I ate too much. Today work was hell
again, but I've got some squash in the oven and a concoction with a little rice and some fish. So
today I'll be OP. This weekend we are going out so I'll probably eat far too much again.

I know that this week won't be good nor the next probably. I'll do what I can to mitigate the
problem, and hopefully I won't gain. If I do it's not the end of the world.

Losing weight is a process not an end in itself. Try to enjoy the journey. I know it's difficult,
and can be very very frustrating but the rewards along the way are huge.

Believe me, it is NOT easy. When I started this process I wrote down all the reasons why I wanted to
lose weight - like being more active with my kids, living longer, losing the back, hip and knee pain
etc, and when my motivation leaves me I re-read it and it helps to re-kindle my motivation. I also
plan my food in advance, normally by lunchtime I have every last calorie planned and accounted for
(I'm not actually doing WW but I eat by similar principals) I find that by planning in an evening
snack I have something to look forward to and I'm far less likely to go 'cupboard trawling'

  13. first, how often are you weighing? some people are too upset by the normal
fluctuations that the body goes through so it is better not to weigh often.
Next, perhaps you could post some of your journals so we could help you with
types of food and point distribution throughout the day. It is not easy for
all of us. It has been relatively easy for me as I am not a volume eater
like some are. I eat, when not on program very calorie dense food that has
small volume so being full is not an issue for me. The real reason I think
it has been easier for me to lose, and stay on program this time is that I
woke up one day and realized that eating improperly was the cowards way of
self distruction. I actually thought it is the same as suicide only more
subtle. Since I do not believe in suicide as a moral option for me I
decided that the behavior had to stop. And I can yell at you but I won't.
You are intelligent so you know what you must do. You must decide if it is
worth the effort and while you are deciding, this may not be the right time
for you to lose and there is nothing wrong with that either. This is all
about your choices, your control and what is best for you, Best of luck

  15. Thanks y'all. I have done very well today and even drank my water. I bought
some WOW chips ( I hope those are okay!) and 16 chips are 1 pt. I had a
serving when I got home and it's gonna "hold" me till dinner, which is baked
chicken breast, corn-on-the-cob, green beans and maybe a tad of rice. For
breakfast I had 1 oz of Velveeta Light on 1 slice of bread with a cup of 1%
milk. Lunch was a Smart Ones chicken enchilada and lettuce and tomato salad
with low-fat ranch dressing. So today I have had 12 points and still have
anywhere from 14-19 points for dinner. (If anyone sees a discrepancy in my
    points, PLEASE let me know!)

NEXT Monday. It seems so easy for all of you. HOW do you DO it???

You are doing great don't panic

  17. I would not let a small .10 gain get you off track. Day to day fluctuations are normal. I think
thats why WW would prefer that we only weigh ourselves once a week. Some people can not handle these
normal fluctuations. Don't be so hard on yourself. It takes time to learn how to plan your menus and
to know what is good and what is bad. It is a long term learning process to a better way of eating.
Don't expect to learn everything overnight or you'll be disappointed.

You might add more points to your breakfast and lunch so that you don't have so many points left
over at the end of the day. That might explain why you are hungry by mid afternoon. I found that the
Smart ones don't have enough protein to keep me satisfied. I have to take my lunch to work each day.
Instead of a Smart one, I make up a container of cooked chicken (3-4 oz) plus a serving of frozen
mixed veggies. This I nuke and add a salad and some LF yogart or fruit for dessert. For breakfast I
have a serving of cereal and a cup of 1% milk. Have you thought of trying the new WW Fast Track plan
to jump start your journey? Here's the website that has the documents:
    weightwatchers.comEatingGuide.pdf

Or you could use the guide as a foundation for your own menus for your current target points but it
gives you an idea of how to plan healthy meals.

Don't forget your water and journaling is also important.
