I do not mind the fruit-and-berry eating crowd ...... even when they
want only composite ... still okay.
I draw the line when they want me to STOP all amalgam on anyone (due
to fumes - ?) and they WANT composite compatibility testing ........
Strange but they never want to pay for it themselves either!

The people who want you to stop using amalgam on all patients may actually
be concerned for your health as well as their own. But more likely, they
simply don't want to go to a dentist who uses amagam on anyone, since this
would unnecessarily expose them and their family to ambient mercury vapor
levels quite possibly exceeding the EPA's limits every time they visit your
office.

Is hydrogen magically made harmless by combining with oxygen?? Are
Chlorine and Sodium magically rendered harmless by combining them
together??There is nothing magical about the fact that combining mercury with
silver as an amalgam does make it a much safer compound compared to
using mercury alone.
You missed my point. The mercury does not react with the other metals in the
amalgam in a chemically as Sodium and Chlorine do. It continues to exist in
the elemental form. Thus it produces toxic mercury vapor over the entire
life of the filling, with increasing levels caused by chewing and hot
liquids. That's why I call it a mercury delivery system. But mercury is also
highly toxic when it combines chemically to form mercury salts. Either way
you've got a dangerous metal that is not safe in any form.
Quoted message said:That is not to say that the amalgam is 100% safe. But if you look at
the epidemiologic evidence comparing people with amalgams and those

What evidence? Show me the studies. I don't believe they've ever been done.
Why not get CEREC porcelain inlays? Why subject yourself to poison? I
do not understand why you would do it if it harms you.

They do not accept anyone into dental school without an amalgam
compatibility test. You must show a natural immunity to amalgam vapors
and immunity to amalgam pellets before you get into the profession.

If dental amalgam exposure to mercury is so harmful how does one
explain the fact that dentists overall do not show any increase
morbidity??It would be interesting to see an epidemiological study on the alzheimer's
rates of elderly dentists as compared to the general population. To be fair,
the study would have to screen out any individuals who have amalgam
fillings, dentists included. Here's one study showing a link between mercury
and the nerve degeneration typical of alzheimer's:http://www.ucalgary.ca/~gauntlet/eg/news/stories/20010329/news05.html
Quoted message said:Epidemiologic evidence strongly indicates that dental amalgams are

For the uninitiated, sodium chloride is a chemical compoound, while
amalgam is a mixture and always remains a mixture. And yes, a mixture
can separate over time.
Amalgam a compound? Nope. Can sodium chloride "separate?" Nope. See
Second Law of Thermodynamics.

this newsgroup. Read the history of Jan Drew and you will find that
although she believes that she was poisoned by mercury she in
actuality was poisoned by reading a Hulda Clark book. And because Jan
is both highly suggestible and somatically hypervigilant as well as
delusional she is convinced that she almost died of mercury poisoning.
But how does a person one day think they are dying of mercury
poisoning and the very next day after having some amalgams out feel
better than she had in two years!!Aloha,
Rich

Actually the PEL is 0.100 mg/m3 of ambient air and all but the
sloppiest dental offices are well below that.
Why?
Technology. No bottles of mercury, it comes presealed in capsules from
the factory, safe disposal, etc.
HOW TO EXCEED: Do something stupid like heating scrap amalgam to
recover silver or something else really dumb.

onward,
Peeking back in this newsgroup after a year of absence, I see the same
Hg dentists are employing the same tactics in their vain hope to avoid
lawsuits.
In case you are new to dealing with these people, let me make a comment:
These are utterly corrupt group of professional liers when it comes to
Hg. They know there's at least a trillion dollar lawsuit coming, far
bigger than the tobacco suit that is going on, and the prospect scares
them to death. Like any unethical criminals, they are doing their best
to preserve their purse at the expense of ruining lives of a lot of people.
And all this I heard it from a dentist I met at the chelation clinic.
Facts are abundant, but arguing with the Hg dentists will not go
anywhere because they are programmed to deny.

More urban myth and delusions.
I haven't used amalgam for 18 years, but I know it is not a health risk.
It's just ugly and patients prefer teeth to look like teeth.
Mercury does form metallic bonds in the amalgam. They are not as strong
as ionic or covalent bonds in other molecules, but it isn't the same as
elemental mercury.
A 'chelation clinic'?? I'll bet they 'chelate' your wallet quite nicely.
LOL,
Fawks
BTW, baiting me to try to argue will be fruitless.

More self-serving denials to protect the wallet.
I am recovering from 20 years of suffering, thanks to chelation. From
the severe mental fog that completely debilitated me (by the time I
reached the end of a paragraph, I couldn't remember the beginning), I
have recovered about 80% of previous mental capacity with two years of
chelation.
Mercury leaks from amalgam and destroys neurons. Pure and simple.
