To my completely untrained eye, that looks vaguely (ie, it is red, and
a second road bike) like the one that was sitting next to the bus stop
on Glenferry rd next to the station, with a "for sale" sign on it, for
$70. You weren't selling your bike, were you?

I would have bought the bike that was being sold, except $70 seemed
far too cheap for a bike that was in good nic, if indeed it was in
good nic.

Then I had bad thoughts of it being stolen or something. I would have
looked up it's serial number, and then asked the police if there were
any reports for that S/N, but then decided that was too much effort,
so went back to Swinburne.

Do you need a certain type of brake caliper for the dia compe brake lever
(ie to match its pull rate) or can you just use any standard road brake??

How much would you want for Vegemite?? (so that I can strip all the running
gear off of it for my fixed roadie frame that is about 61cm or so)

Im using a diacompe lever with campag athena brakes which need minimal cable pull but the lever yanks plenty of chain, so to speak

Nope. This one has been in my possession for maybe
15 years and was owned by someone else in Mildura
before me. It has been in my garage for the last 5
years.

Work with all standard road brakes I believe.
I'm using one with an old caliper on Vegemite.
(ineffective due to the 700c wheel, 27" frame issue)

See email. I don't want to sell the wheels though, they
are for my track bike (unless I build Nick's new hubs

It's a fixie, using Miche track groupset, so:
- 165mm cranks
- suitable bottom bracket
- 48T track chainring (1/8" teeth, rather than 3/32" road)
- track chain
- track cog (18T for this one)
- track/fixed hub (no freewheel, unlike SS)
