It's dated 1952 in the photo which seems about the right era
for the style - machined from a solid steel piece, not pressed.

Yes, that the right place for digging :-).
There is on FAQ section link to http://www.rijwiel.net/artdated.htm where is
everything explained - my nabe is from 1952.

It is a coaster-brake hub.
