Eye protection for running?

i use the "swat at the branch and yell "oh [censored]"" defense...

actually i dont wear sunglasses when i run unless it's very sunny out and i
couldnt imagine wearing non-prescription glasses that werent tinted...seems
to "shop class" to me. I dont see a plethora of one-eyed runners in my daily
travels though but i imagine after investing in the lasik you're not looking
for a burgess-meredithian irony on your next run...

I don't do that, but I do wear a baseball-type cap. A quick
duck of the head works wonders for keeping branches out of eyes.
If I'm prepared, I'm wearing my regular glasses as well. But
branches scratching the lenses is something that makes me appreciate
the cap and bill method instead.

Why? What happened to Burgess Meredith? Was it he who played the guy
with glasses in that old Alfred Hitchcock Presents piece, where now
that the entire population of the world is dead, he will be able to
read at the library without interruption, and then he breaks his
glasses?

Or is it something else?

get a couple of pairs of shades of varying degrees
of darkness. nice ones. oakley. as a lifetime
glasses wearer, i tried contacts for a year or so.
i know that all kinds of junk gets into your eyes
that glasses will stop. perhaps, people that don't
wear glasses all the time are not so aware of
this problem. they think it's normal to have
dirt or stuff blow into your eyes. i don't think so.

Funny you should say this. I am a lifelong glasses
wearer, and I wear contacts only to run. Can't stand
the glasses slipping down on the end of my nose.

most of us that don't need glasses are less evolved and thus our cranial
ridges protect us from flying debris.

No. No one.

What about sunglasses with replaceable lens. I have Oakleys and Rudy's that
allow me to change lens. When I am going to run (or ride) in a situation
like that I can put in clear lens.

I just picked up a pair of performance cygnus glasses. I went on a 14
mile run and they where great. Wind was about 14 mph and gusting to 38.
I think my eyes would have dried out if I didn't have them. They where
30 bucks and they fit snug enough that they don't flop around. They
come with clear, amber and grey lenses.
The main reason I got these where for running at night on small trails.
I had a tree limb hit my left eyeball one morning(dark outside) and had
to go to the doc for a scratched eye. I figure these should keep that
from happening again.

Yes, without those your eyeballs would've turned to dust, just like the
rest of us. If you had those on when the tree limb hit you, they'd of
shattered, and you'dbe blinded forever.
