a couple slopes open and I DID BIKE.....no snow on any of the
roads....just on the mountains....I have not lost interest yet. :-)

I figure riding a bicycle is something we can always do in new ways.

Thanks.....and how do you know if I put the ski's on or not? Did you
ever see the slopes out there???? I rode my bike..thats
enough..putting on ski's and flying down a mountain seems a little too
extreme for me. I will stick to the bike.
I really do want to live a while longer. I had a four hour layover in
Utah and the mountains were incredible there. If I get in shape I
will try cross country skiing...but no one is getting me up on those
mountains so I can fly down and hit a tree. Now way.

I took alot of pictures of the ski slopes and the mountains in Utah
and more in Nevada.....I am going to try to post them on one of my
websites. In Utah I hiked/walked a little. My niece does some rock
climbing in Tahoe. Everyone has a big truck and a big dog out there.
I did not see any dogs like the ones Paris Hilton carries in her

to see her in the summer. I hope she doesn't make me get on a horse.
I am taking baby steps toward outdoor activities...not giant leaps.

I guess your niece never got around to complaining about the bears. They are
hibernating in Tahoe by now. I had inlaws there until a year ago and the bears
were a constant problem from spring on.

Coyotes are all over the west. I live in the middle of Orange County CA and the
first time I came across a coyote kill, I thought it was some kind of cult
thing. The coyotes here always leave the cat's head and paws on the grass. I
see coyotes on the bike trails all the time early and late. If I'm caught out
after sundown I hear them barking and howling. Having a meeting I guess.

Incidently I saw a beautiful bob-cat last week on my ride. The biggest bob-cat
I ever saw. He had been disturbed by a work crew and was walking away from
them, looking back over his shoulder. He never saw me. Had to have been 18-20
inches at the shoulder. Really made my day.

You are going to love it. Just make sure they give you a gentle horse, not one
of those range broke broncs they usually give green-horns. They do have their
humor in cow country.

Why not have big dogs, there is plenty of space for them to roam.And
if you have a big dog (or two!) you need a big truck in which to
transport them.
And out west we call cats that are allowed outdoors-"coyote bait" as
the life expectency of an outdoor cat is <6 mos.

After having lived on the east coast for over 30 years I have happily
moved out west--cats (indoor) and all. 330 days of sunshine a year.
Makes everyone happy!!!!

happy with the coyote eating her cat but that's where she chooses to
live. My brother lives in PA. He just built a house there. When I
visit him I see more animals in his backyard that I do when I go out
to Nevada. He feeds everything...the deer, the bear, the squirrels,
etc. He lives near Stokes Forest. He has to carry a gun when he walks
the dog after dark.....because of bear. He rides a bike now too. He
used to be a motorcycle nut, but the bike riding is great up around
his way. Biking and Hiking. So many great trails. SNAKES TOO. It takes
a little getting used to for me. I was never the outdoorsy type. We
went hiking and I saw a snake, it was not pleasant. (But I am
learning) I told him I would leave my Walmart bike there so we can
ride together when I visit. Good thing I bought that Walmart bike.

Seeing them is jim-dandy, if you're not too close. Hearing them
when you can't see them can be a little unnerving. I think mostly
they live in constant fear of being stepped-on, and of having Steve
Irwin sneaking up on them and yanking their tails. Snakes can move
fast, but they can't jump. Well, in some far flung parts of the
world some snakes can jump out of trees, but I don't think we need
to worry about that in North America.
