  5. I think you need to go into apology mode! I didn't snip ANYTHING FROM YOUR POST, you foul mouth
miscreant! Why do you persist in lying about the post I quoted?? Perhaps you've got the thread
discombobulated on your news reader. In any event, I didn't distort your post. Check again.

Have you considered writing a complaint? It may not change things immediately but it can make the
powers that be aware that not everyone is satisfied with the care received.

I was lucky. The dietician I saw was pretty good but the hospital has a good diabetes education
center. No way was I told to eat that many carbs. Of course, I had already been eating a fairly good
diet and knew the basics of nutrition so I was able to make my own judgements on the information
recieved. Some people in the class had no concept whatsoever of what constituted even a marginally
    healthy way of eating.

One woman stated flat out that she wasn't going to "follow no diet." Diabetes was going to kill her
anyway. This dietician was up against a lot of resistance to even the most basic changes in eating.
In the classroom setting she explained a more generic diet. When I met with her one on one, she
listened (I know, something rare) to what I was saying and then gave me input on what I was doing.
She supported my eating plan because it was working for me. I eat <150 (usually <125) grms per day
and try to include lotsa chicken fish and veggies with only occassion excursions into the land of
french fries. My a1c's have consistently been <6 since a diagnosis of
    10.8.

  9. One of single greatest things I have ever done was to read the Gretchen Becker book "The First Year
Type 2 Diabetes: An Essential Guide for the Newly Diagnosed" right after my dx. If I had followed
what the CDE had told me I think I'd be in some pretty bad shape right now. Well at least not in as
good a shape as I perceive myself to be.

I just got back from the dietitian who wants me to eat 60-75 carbs per meal. That's nearly the

for me? I've been keeping my BG <100 and my A1C <5 by sticking to 20-30 grams per meal.

I would not call BG of 120-140 to be slight spikes. What was it before eating? Why would you want to
keep your BG <100? Most of us use these goals: <110 fasting, <140 at one hour after eating, and <120
at two hours after eating. Sounds like you can eat more carbs than you have been, but perhaps not as
much as the dietician thinks you can.
