At the risk of sounding like a know it all, I will say this ... the dietician doesn't always have
100% of all the facts. They only see numbers , med level and what you tell them. Alot of diabetic
dieting is trial and error. They don't experience your exercise level, absolute food choices, or
your stress level. Unless you do absolutely the same thing they tell you to do with the same brands.
For instance. the white bread they use to compute however many carbs, may be different than what you
use and the sugar and carb level is different, especially if the slices don't weigh ounce for ounce
what you use. And are you using good measuring ? Most people don't, as a rule. One dietician allowed
me popcorn early in the day, but I found the amount to be too much because it caused spikes, even if
eaten before the gym. On the other hand, my sister, also diabetic, could eat a wagon load, lose
weight and retain lower bg. 75 per meal sounds like alot, and I would tread most carefully. Try it
for a couple of days and do what you need to adjust. I would and did discard the diet given to me
because it was too far off the mark I had self set for success. I had set a really strict rule base
for myself and was not willing to thriw mysekf to the wolves, so to speak, to accomplish the
dietician's goal, which was moderate, compared to mine, If i had done what was prescribed, I would
have given up alot in terms of control and leaning what my own body wasabout. The dietician did not
believe that I was working out as much as I said. And I was. I lost 104lbs and gained some really
sculpted lean muscles ... she actually asked me once how I had done this ... duh ? It was all that
weight bearing exercise ! One dayt the gyn, a lady watching me working on one of the machines, asked
dumbfoundeg. "did you get those arm muscles in he ?", well yeah, I did. I got labeled "obsessed".
Not because I was, but because, according to her I had boxed myself in too tight, to a regimen most
people wouldn't follow. new my greatest success wouldbe to lose the weight and gain lean muscles as
fast as I could. My then endo told me that 1 in 20 people would actully do what was required. Other
people rely on crutches and meds and half baked diet issues. I was highly motivated to succeed. When
I discovered that the exchange diet wasn't getting me alongtoo far, I read everything I could and
designed, for me myself what to do that made sense. I went from a size 3x to a 14 in 15 months, and
from 325 bg to 70. Like a lot offolks who lose eight, I did not lose my hair, my nails grew alright,
and I had energy. When I tried it their way, I coud hardly get out of bed, I was so tired, and my
workouts suffered. & my hair and nails looked bad. Rainbow
