It is illegal for fog lamps to be used unless visibility is seriously impaired - generally
interpreted to mean visibility of 100m or less (see Highway Code sections 94, 201 and 211) Some
police forces have had clampdowns on their misuse. To be classed as fog lights they have to have
their own switch independent of the headlights. Otherwise they are driving lights and should only
come on with the main beam.

As for the driver statistics, how *did* you manage to see who was driving past those retina
detaching lights?

Obviously, because I have a Cateye Stadium 3 and Lumicycle Halide2003, both perfectly aligned to
shine directly into the driver's face in the oncoming car. On a really dark lane, I can see who's
driving from miles away!

FWIW the front ones don't bother me in the slightest. Rear ones are terrible in clear
conditions though.

I use a headtorch, which can easily be pointed directly at Captain Cretin in his MDG.
