Hi
I was just reading about a guy who did a 42min tt effort @ 428w
I was wondering if the experts could tell me the best method to work out a probable FTP ?
Just curious really.

Well as one data point and assuming it is both correct and from a realtively steady state effort, then some fraction of 42-min power = FTP. What that fraction is, well probably pretty close to 1.
0.98 - 1.00 I'd guess.
But it'd be a good idea to have another data point.

Thanks. I had read that it mya equate to ~101% of FTP
Unfortunately it's NOT my FTP :-)

based on that TT an FTP of ~428 would be a very good estimate...
That's sick power. What kind of power do the bigger tour riders put out?

Yes, it is. That's about what it takes to win the Elite TT championships (assuming that the rider also has good positioning/equipment, too).
