  1. I felt like Snake Pliskin yesterday. At least the CHP and work of the arsonists made it so.

Before departing, I checked the CalTrans site. The I215 was open, so I could shoot up the CA91 to
get to Cajon Pass and escape into the Mojave Desert. I left the radio on for road conditions, though
LA radio sucks major ass nowdays. Apparently their traffic updates suck just as much because as I
approached the I215/I10 split, the CalTrans sign showed that the I215 was closed at CA30. [censored]! The
I15 was "escorted" status between Cucamonga and Devore when I left, so I knew that would be a major
mess. I headed East on the I10, thinking of my options.

Rolling the dice just once, I tried the CA38 to CA18 option to get over the San Bernardino Mountains
and into the desert. DOH! The CHP was sitting near the forest circus HQ and turning back
non-residents, so I headed towards Yucaipa instead of backtracking to Redlands.

Ten minutes later, I was back on I10 headed East again. I had heard that on Sunday CalTrans was
suggesting that anyone needing to get to I15 North should take the I10 all of the way to Needles and
head North on US95. That would have taken me about 150 miles out of the way and dealing with a RV
and Tractor Trailer train on a two-laner. No way.

Last roll of the dice, I exited I10 at CA62 and headed towards Yucca Valley. Traffic wasn't that
heavy, so all of the dummies must have been still listening to CalTrans...suckers! I hit CA247 on
the North end of Yucca Valley and headed around the backside of the burning San Bernardino
Mountains. The sky was just as ble as the Middle Of Everywhere, though the Mojave is much less
vegetated than the Colorado Plateau desert. Along the highway, every rock/boulder cluster was
covered in graffiti, an affliction that is much more rare in Western Colorado. Pigs.

For the most part, CA247 had light traffic and after turning North in Lucerne Valley, was empty. The
cruise to Barstow from there went quickly. When I finally got on I15, I figured that I had only gone
70 miles out of the way. It still sucked though because by the time I got to St George, it was too
late to get a quick ride in without lights. Damn the arsonists to their own inferno.

LOL, I doubt he even notices these "gnats." There are far, far worse pestilences where he
    comes from.

    Define "problem".
