1. I have a fairly new Ergomo system.

I've not been on my bike for a week due to illness and came back to find the "battery low" warning on the ergomo computer. I took the computer off the bike and charged it up over night. This morning, the computer has completely frozen in the "Pro Power" screen.

No amount of button pressing or pressing the reset switch seem to be making any difference.

Any suggestions? Or do I just have a duff computer unit?

I thought my Powertap was unreliable, but this thing just takes the cake.

2. What is "fairly new"? Is it the pro or sport? I've got the older sport version, and it froze on my just this weekend (low battery icon, went to charge and [censored]!). Charge it up, hold the left and middle buttons down for 30 seconds, let go, and a general reset initiates. That's all you should need to do.

3. It's the new Pro one. Only had it a month.

4. This is the second most common problem reported on the topica wattage list, behind being unable to download. Some people report having to send the CPU back to the dealer for a reflash of the eeprom in order to fix the problem.

Hi redbiker,

try to reset the computer again by pressing harder into the hole with a paperclip (no needle) until you go after the resistance point (you will feel it). Then it should be ok. It happend to me as well and I found out that I had to press harder.

Have a great day...

Thanks! That got it. Just not pressing hard enough.

Now to get the bloody download to work properly! 🙄

Sure, what was/is the problem with the download? Could you complete the download?

9. Seem to have to hit the reset button once the ergomo computer is linked up to my PC in order to get Cycling Peaks to recognise that it's there.

It's a bit annoying to have to reset it every time, besides which the reset button is sure to break sooner or later as it's only quite fragile by the feel of it.

Good morning redbiker,

no need to reset the computer each time for downloading. If the ergomo is in sleep mode (ergomo logo on the screen) you only need to press the upper button in order to wake it up - then the ergomno will communicate with the software.

Always safe rides,
Have a wonderful day,

I also have download problems:
Download to ErgoRacer randomly stops and the Ergomo Pro becomes "frezzed" (it must be reseted) and ErgoRacer need to be restarted.
The same occurs with WKO.
Finally it works after serveral failed attemps (and resets), very annoying...
I use a direct RS232 connection (no USB converter involved).

Hi,
do you have the ergoRacer110_patch already installed?
If not, you should get it from the ergomo webpage:
ergomo.deDownloads 151.html

Greetings,

Greetings,

Yes, I have installed ergoRacer110_patch and latest firmware version (20060317) before initial use.

I could do the firmware update and configure the device with the same port-cable-pc-os but the download fails randomly at different records number.

Thanks for your help anyway, Ale.

14. More Ergomo problems I'm afraid!

Still seem to have to reset to get the ergomo computer to talk to my PC.

Have installed the latest firmware update.

The latest problem I've having is that I can't seem to wipe the memory on the ergomo.
I go to the menu and select DELETE TRP, then in the next menu scroll down to RESET and hit the OK button.

Now if I scroll through the screens until the INFORMATION screen I see that the available memory is still 1hr25mins. Deleting the trip doesn't seem to free up any memory at all.

Where am I going wrong??
I have downloaded the store rides to Cycling Peaks.

DELETE TRP doesn't clear the memory, you must do that with the "clear device" button in CPS (download or configure dialog boxes).

Hope it helps.

Hi,

just like martinez said, you can easily delete the memory in the ergoracer software, click on "configure device, then click on "clear device." It is important that the ergomo is not in sleep mode BEFORE beginning to communicate with the software.
Do you have the users guide? It is explained there too.

I can´t think of a reason why you would need to reset the unit. I never heard of this before and it never happened to me or users I know. Maybe you should send it in and get an exchange unit.

Best regards,

17. I've just upgraded the software to the new version of Cycling Peaks.
Everything seems to be working fine now.
I can clear the Ergomo memory and I don't have to reset the Ergomo to make it talk to the PC.

Happy now!

Thanks for everyone's suggestions and help.

🙂

Perfect, I am glad to hear that.

Cheers!🙂

19. Got out and tested the system in anger tonight in a 25mile TT.

Pretty tough course, average 293 Watts, normalised power 296 Watts.

1hr 55 seconds for a third place.

Glad I got things sorted in time as I've now got a really good estimate of FTP60 to help me pace my big race (Ironman Germany) in a couple of weeks time.

Thanks everyone!

Hi Redbiker (and anyone else who has been using an Ergomo Pro for a while),

How is your Ergomo Pro doing now? Still okay, any more issues? I have an "old" Ergomo Sport and it's junk - both the computer and the sensor seem to be sensitive to water. The (new) Sensortechnik company (the old one went bankcrupt) has offered to replace my Sport with a new Pro for 700 Euros. I don't want to spend 700 Euros if I am going to have the same reliability problems with the Pro.

Thanks for your comments.
