  1. A runner and his friends came up with a crazy plan, putting
together a fast mile course through the streets of downtown
Berkeley (I believe), and the guy ran it late at night, very
haphazardy escorted and filmed by the friends. He apparently
runs a3:46. They posted it on Google.

The little movie even has a cheesy Eye Of The Tiger soundtrack.
It's really err.... something to watch. Don't try this at home.

  3. thanks for posting that david...i thought it was very cool. i grew up
in the adjacent town (oakland) and was trying to place those berkeley
    streets.

i am sure he was running East to West as it's a slight downhill
grade....wish they posted the streets/route. looks like he ended up
flat & about 2 blocks before Berkeley hits the Bay (Bay Area). Hence
my guess is he started around the distance & elevation of where the
Campus is...toward the Bay (about 1 mile).

had the look & feel of Solano Ave. however i believe that's 2-way...his
running looked like it was on a 1 way street the whole shot.

wouldn't it be cool if everyone did something like this? but did it
with your local landmarks in view to give a sense of "place".

  4. Reminds of a piece by the commentator on the now defunct
60 Minutes II. He put a mini-cam on his dog's head to see
where it ran into the woods 15 minutes each day.
He got his answer, but only the dog knew why he went
    where the went.

So what did the dog do? Just go to a random, but same
location every day that seemed to have no significance?

    I guess that.
Their sensitive noses give them a whole different map of the world.

Very nice. I'm going to use this to get myself fired up for my
    indoor track meets ...

The attrocious camera work, incomprehensible blathering of his
buddies, and the tacky sound track make it all the more fun, IMO.

Yeah Rick, you need a good nose to shove it into other dogs butts
everytime you meet one. You can't get that good 'ol "[censored] smell"
    without a good nose.

Yeah, I thought it was very entertaining for many of the same
    reasons. :-)

  11. That is classic! Gives one a new appreciation as well for the
super-fast who can run that kind of time on the flats...!

Good stuff, though. Looked like a blast...
