Beach Fire-Rescue, who responded to the scene. "Do you think you can put
the
fire out? They're really hurting."

The woman was expected to survive.

Either a very quiet train or a very loud iPod. Did they run a drug
test on her?

That's what I was thinking too. Didn't she look both ways before she
crossed the tracks??? Or was she running on the tracks, in which case,
that's just sheer stupidity.

I never have my ipod all that loud. When I run on the trails, I can
still hear the bikes (or murderers or rapists) coming up behind me. I
learned my lesson long ago, the wintery day I was running with music
too loud in a quiet street and was suddenly thrown down to the ground
with a lot of force. I thought a person had attacked me but it turned
out to be a big dog that went after the tassel on my hat.

That was the day I knew I was a runner, because despite my long-time
fear of big dogs, I went out running again the next day.

Is she blond? How do you not look to see if a train is coming?

Very sad.

A few months ago here in LA, a girl was killed by a train as she was both
listening to her ipod *and* talking on her cell phone.
