  1. Can someone explain how to calculate instantaneous power and energy used in cycling? Neglecting
    wind, slope, stopping & starting. For example : I ride 12350m to work in 40 minutes. I weigh 70kg,
    and the bike is about 15kg. Road is mostly flat. Its been a long time since high school physics.

    Actually, I ride on ice in a vacuum. It's hard to stop sometimes.

    I don't know if this will help, but in one of our recent newsletters for the Niagara Freewheelers
    (www.thefreewheelers.com), 1 hour at 25 kph uses 900 calories.
