I own three mp3 players, and I experience the same problem with all of
them: After I turn on the machine, there is no sound, although the
title of the selection is scrolling in the window.
I have to repeatedly press on the pause button before the sound
finally arrives...
How do I avoid this frustrating ritual and ensure that the sound
starts on start-up without any prompting on my part?

Only load MP3 players with really good blues music (or opera if you don't
like guitars and croaky white boys trying to sound like old black men)
otherwise they are programmed to ignore duff tracks.
