Emu egg

  1. Need some info regarding hard boiling an emu egg.
    How long and how hard a boil. Weighs 15 ounces.
    A chicken egg weighs 2 1/4 ounces. don't know if the weight is
    relevant.

    Any response would be appreciated

    Ask Katra. She would be sure to know, as she raises emus and uses their
    eggs.

    Paul taught me to boil emu eggs... ;-)
    He boils them for one hour. Bring to a rolling boil, then turn down to a
    lighter boil for the hour.

    Personally, I prefer to drill one end, blow them out to save the shell
    (I get $5.00 each for shells on ebay) and make a quiche or breakfast
    tacos out of them.

    Emu egg is delicious!

  13. A medium sized emu egg will take approximately 1 hour 45 minutes to cook.
    Equivalent in weight to about 12 chickens eggs
    A medium sized emu egg weighs about 1 lb 4 oz
