Hi,
Having just been nearly blown off Elidir Fawr this weekend
whilst trying to complete the Welsh 3000's, I was wondering
whether there was a better route (we basically went from
Nant Peris straight up the side
- 2800 ft of climb - hard work and demoralising in the
conditions).
Earlier in the attempt (whilst we were on Crib Goch), I
noticed a path heading up towards the Glyders from behind
Pen-y-Pass YHA. It isn't shown on any maps that I've seen,
and I couldn't trace its route further up the mountains, but
it set me wondering wheher, rather than descend all the way
to Nant Peris, it was possible to get Elidir Fawr by getting
up to the col between Y Garn and the Glyders from Pen-y-Pass
and then traversing round and back. Wouldn't save much
distance, but would reduce the climbing ...
