When I started walking which was only a few years ago, I felt as if the
scales had been lifted from my eyes. I never knew you could get to such
places freely and without restriction. I was amazed at just how much
was available to see and enjoy. My one regret is that I left it so

The particular issue of professional outdoor instructors and the
working at heights directive was fairly well publicised in the national
press at the time, perhaps you missed it.

Fortunatly there were people intrested enough in the detail of the
proposed legislation to form a concerted campaign to oppose the
changes. If the HSE had not introduced the excemptions mentioned the
effects on professional instructors and outdoor centres could have been
profound.

The H&S stuff is easy enough to lookup on the web, although granted few
people bother.
