They require enough insurance to replace the house, not the contents ... And that's just to buy.
People can let insurance lapse, or reduce coverage at a later date.

Umm, don't be so quick to judge. It is really easy to not have enough insurance to cover your home
in the event of its total destruction. Particurlarly if you have been in your home for a long time
and have not increased your insurance coverage to compensate for rising replacement costs.

I wouldn't be surprised if over 30% of those reading this newsgroup didn't have adequate insurance
for their homes.

I'm sorry to hear about Eddie B. But I'm glad he is ok - that is the most important thing.

It's not really the state that requires the insurance, it's the mortgage companies.

Living large? Hardly. He lived in a double wide mobile home, on his property. They only insure these
things for so much money.

I knew that there would be a lot of [censored] spewing out from a lot of the cretins who haunt this
newsgroup, but I was really hoping that they would stay under their rocks for this one.

It is obvious that the people who are writing the most [censored], don't even know Eddie, especially in
the last few years.

I for one thought that I had more than adequate coverage when I was insured with CSAA a few years
ago. Needless to say, when I changed insurance companies a few months ago because CSAA sucks (for a
variety of other reasons), my insurance company informed me that I was woefully underinsured.
Thanksfully now, we are okay.

Chris should look in the mirror on this one before you starts throwing rocks. If you read all of the
info about this on the Daily Peleton and Cyclingnews, you will see that Eddie isn't the one banging
the drum, it is all of his friends and athletes that he has coached in the past.

Real estate and property values in the Ramona area far exceed the actual cost of building or
replacing a structure. If he had even a modest amout of home owners insurance required by the bank,
then I'd imagine he'll be more than covered to rebuild his home and then some.
