  2. I raced with this guy, I was once in a two up break in hot weather with him he had 7 supporters
dotted about a 6km curcuit each with sponges full of water ! I was soaked just riding behind him !
looking back now I realised that he was probably charged out of his skull & needed to keep cool.

  3. These kinds of stories, without a doubt, aren't unusual. What's been intereting to me following RBR
for a short time now is the response, or mostly the lack of response whenever a doping question or
statement is put to the board. The vocal "anti" group seems to be mostly the same names, whereas,
even more striking, is the largely lack of response from the "hard-core" racing types who, perhaps,
could offer the most pertinent insight. Is this subject so taboo that no one wants to touch it?
Maybe it's just been re-hashed one time too many? Or is it just silence is the best policy?

He had a pretty amazing reputation, and when he was caught the first time showed very little
remorse. A friend of mine asked him "So Johan, why aren't you racing?". "Doping", with a shrug, was
the response. He was definitely a good rider, but not *that* good. But he's right about not being
    the only one.

I'm pretty sure I was at the race (Boekhoute) where he was tested. They said they were doing random
controls but he was the only guy in the top 20 they tested. I don't know who picked the numbers out
    of the hat that day.

Problem is, there is hardly any testing at the amateur level due to the cost involved and the large
number of races on. I'd guess that most of the amateurs who take stuff are justifying it because
they want to be on a level playing field. The risk of health problems in 15-20 years time doesn't
bother them in the slightest. It should though, because 15-20 years down the track, all they've got
is memories, if indeed they can remember their mighty drug induced feats.

    Je me souviens:

A [censored] by the name of Jean Mazier.

In actual fact the DS of the French National Squad back in the 50's.

But he was much better known to all and sundry as Tonton Jean.

    I always wondered why 😉

    Maybe he liked Oriental Cooking?

What good would that do? Even if it were legal, I would still be worried about the health effects. I
would therefore place myself at a greater disadvantage by not choosing to take EPO (for example).
And I'd guess that many, but not all, riders would feel the same way. It's not exactly a big
    encouragement for the kiddies.

Anyone that wins by doping hasn't won a thing and has only stolen the win from some
    deserving person.
