  1. Are there any potential risks or serious side effects of going on the
stack while taking Celexa or other SSRIs? I know of the dangers with
MAOIs and some other drugs, however have found nothing of interest on
this topic and was wondering if anyone knew.

I have used ECA before - however not while I was on Celexa which I am
currently taking. I have noticed it is more difficult for me to lose
weight while taking the drug which is a shame because it seems to have
solved my "nervous stomach" issues which were a tremendous nusiance.

ECA= ephedra/caffeine/aspirin ... ephedra has been banned for hrrm
about a year now, where have you been? Thermogenics on the market now
are a bunch of other herbal [censored] that basically do nothing in
comparison. And btw to take a stimulant with an antidepressant
medication is just asking for a second helping of stupid.

    <broken record> Ephedra was banned. Pharmaceutical over-the-counter
    ephedrine was not. </broken record>

Do you ever get anything right? Does being nearly always wrong bother you?

Speaking of "stupid," you really should know what you're talking about
before you start typing your responses. First, herbal ephedra was
banned by FDA rule. Pharmaceutical ephedrine has not been banned and
can be obtained without a prescription in most states. Second, the
risk of taking ephedrine with SSRIs is not the same as taking ephedrine
with MAOIs, for reasons I won't bother explaining. Let it suffice to
say that taking ephedrine with citalopram or any other SSRI is not
directly contraindicated, but anyone suffering from major depression
sufficient to obtain SSRI prescriptions should be careful about taking
ephedrine and caffeine due to the anxiogenic properties of that stack,
particularly in light of the frequent comorbidity of anxiety and major
    depression.

Tell that to practically every gas station in town. Of course you get
    expectorant with it, but whatever.

Well you provided the first helping to start me off, sweetheart.
    Thanks for the useless answer.

A useful response, thanks. I have actually considered dropping the
celexa because the only reason I am taking it is for stomach issues
upon suggestion from my doctor. It works but I have noticed some side
effects to the celexa that I am not fond of and I believe there might
be another way to deal with my stomach without taking an SSRI for it.
I could be wrong however, particularly if he is correct in assuming
that the stomach problems stem from anxiety, which I am otherwise
    totally unaware of.

She was providing a necessary MFW service. Someone has to assert
something stupid so that the people who know better will bother to chime
    in with the right answer.

Ephedra, commonly known as mahuang, is not (I dont care what you all
profess to know)the same as ephedrine in that it doesnt 'work' the
same. Otherwise everyone would be in the cold medicine aisle stocking
up on it. Ask anyone who has taken both (I have) and they dont begin to
compare in effectiveness. The original ECA stack was
ephedra/caffeine/aspirin, and its not longer available.

Not nearly so wrong as you usually are - just answered the OP's
original question, thats more than you usually do.

I think the reason most people aren't raiding the Bronkaid and
Primatine is that they simply don't know what's in it. Face it,
ignorance is pretty common, as you should know.

    You're thinking about pseudoephedrine.

FWIW, herbal ephedra contains both ephedrine and pseudoephedrine, as
well as PPA (phenylpropanolamine, aka norephedrine), the classic OTC
diet pill "secret ingredient" of the 1970s and 1980s.

    Quoted message said:

No, it was not. The original studies involved pharmaceutical
ephedrine and caffeine, known as the "Elsinore pill," which was
developed in Denmark in the early 1970s. See this 1981 abstract from
    the International Journal of Obesity:

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=7228474
    (http://tinyurl.com/4l275)

Herbal supplements containing ephedra and caffeine didn't appear until
the mid 1980s, and production increased in the early 1990s when
supplement companies started taking advantage of the federal dietary
supplement provisions which allowed them to get around the limitations
on sales and labeling that could be imposed due to ephedrine's legal
status as a drug. And if you Google MFW back to the mid-1990s, you'll
find that nearly all references were to ephedrine, not ephedra.

The OP got a number of knowledgeable responses. Not from you, however.

You apparently believe that generously offering wrong advice is a
positive attribute. It must aid your self-esteem, as you so frequently
    offer, most generously, wrong advice.

Please advise on how to achieve that. I've got three kids in three
different schools (none of whom have buses), a husband, a dog, a cat, a
bird, a decrepit house, employees, 329 clients (108 of which are hoping
to suck the life out of me in the next 22 days) and I'm training for a
triathlon in my spare time. Oh, and it's Easter Week with social and
family occasions that I'm enlisted to cook for.

Please advise: what do you mean by "have a life" and how should I attend
    to this goal?

Excuse me, but it's time for me to go take my stack.

That's your proof? You do realize the majority of studies that found

not what is found in OTC supps?
