Helmet goemetry will work, but i think it's too iffy, and
to directional. Performance used to sell these ridiculous
little plastic shields that clipped to the helmet
straps... feh.
I suffer from the same ear thing.
Just shell out the $6-12 and get a nice polarfleece
headband. That'll take one down to about 0-10 F. Add a thin
bakalava for deeper temps.
I rode several miles last week into 20~35 mph winds, 15F
ambient, and managed ok, although my face got terribly wind
burnt (still peeling).
Earplugs work too, but kind of reduce one's ability to hear
Navigators.
