I watched the German news this afternoon and their feature was on The Tour.
They talked to fans riding and campervanning up into to Alps to watch the
race.
However, the entire report was basically the reporter's amazement that
people could still enjoy The Tour after Sinkewitz's A sample tested
positive. The reporter went around harassing every fan about the matter and
wasn't interested in the race at all.
Some how the idea that you could still enjoy the spectacle and a great
sporting contest between the riders who haven't tested positive was
something they couldn't comprehend. It seems to have become a religious
campaign beyond all reason in Germany to try and destroy The Tour and
cycling.
It is all rather ironic because the reason so many riders are testing
positive is that they are finally catching them making the sport the
cleanest it has been for decades. Why successfully catching someone should
should require a boycott I don't get? Should they slacken off testing so no
one else tests positive?
