  1. Does anyone know if you can use the new dura ace 10spd shifters with the dura ace 9spd derailuer? I
know for a fact you can use 9spd shifters with 8spd derailuer, so I was hoping that you could as to
save some money and purchase just the shifters and cassette.

I would have posted to the tech web site but my isp doesn't carry it and I can't locate it on the
    google groups.

    Thanks, Bob

  2. I read somewhere that the 9 speed derailuer could be used, but the new 10 speed one is quicker,
smoother, etc. I do remember reading that you must use the front derailuer!

here is a link to Shimano FAQ'a

    dura-ace.shimano.comfaq s.html

  3. Yes, I used a 9 speed derailuer with 10 speed shifters while waiting for the 10 speed derailuer
    to come in.

  4. Okay, but after reading the faq that several people pointed me to the 10spd chain won't work with
the 9spd crank so I am out of luck as I was hoping to just purchase the shifters and cassette. Has
anyone used the 10spd chain with the 9spd crank and front derailuer?

    Thanks, Bob

When you did this, where did most of the benefit in shifting performance from 10speed to 9sp come
from, the levers or the derailleur?

I need a new RD, and was trying to figure out if it was worth it to go for the DA 10sp derailleur or
    just get the 9sp.

  6. Throw that garbage out and ride Campy; at least when it [censored] the bed you can build it...that's if
    it ever does.
