Yes they do. Few distributors stock the 15/16 size. Your local shop

Colorado Cyclist sells them ay 65 cents each (with brass nipple). But I
was surprised that Nashbar and Performance no longer do.

Probably. I just tell them what length I want. But I see CC doesn't
list their available lengths, and they want to calculate it for the
customer. I'd never let them do that!

I'm not sure what 15ga, 16ga, 17ga, etc mean but I suspect 15ga is
1.8mmØ and 16 is 1.6mmØ. Spokes any thinner than 1.6mmØ twist
excessively at tension required even for 36-spoke wheels. 1.5mmØ
spokes snapped off in twist enough that I do not want to use them.

Yes, that's true. Your opinion is well-considered. And I agree with you.

But if he wants a light gauge spoke in his front wheel he will find
15-17-15 more easily than 15-16-15. That's all.

It's another confusing imperial unit, which can't be measured with a
caliper without a conversion table. The larger the number the thinner
the spoke...
