  1. I find that after i swim, usually after a couple of
practices my hair is very dry.

I wash my hair every day, but that day, i usually have to
wash it up to 5X. Is this normal?

    Micheal

Any suggestions, besides shaving it off

Use a conditioner as well as shampoo after swimming. It
should do the trick. If it doesn't keep a bottle of baby oil
in your swimming bag, and after washing your hair, put a few
drops on your hands and just rub it in to your scalp, that
    will work a treat.

    Consider baby oil or vaseline.

  5. I use baby oil, also make sure you wet your hair prior to
getting into the pool. Hair is like a sponge and you
don't want to have it absorb pool chemicals, instead it
should already be wet from a shower. I assume you are
doing this anyway, because you should shower prior to
    entering a pool anyway.

    why?

Because the rest of us don't want to swim where you've been
soaking your unwashed armpits, buttcrack, and genitals.

The point of a shower before swimming isn't to make sure you
get wet before you get wet, it's to make sure you're
bringing only the minimum amount of sweat, oil, bacteria,
deodorant, aftershave, etc. into the pool with you. The less
biological and chemical contaminants you bring into the
pool, the easier it is to keep the proper chemical balance
in the water to ensure maximum disinfection of the water
with minimum chemical additives. And less chemicals in the
water means it's easier to breathe, your skin doesn't dry
    out as much, etc.

So next time, please take a good soap shower before you
swim. Thanks. And just ducking under the shower spray for
    two seconds doesn't count.

  8. that was kinda my point...many places tell you to shower
before getting in the pool, but in my experience, 99% of
people take that to mean a quick rinsing...even in places
where they do require a shower before, i'd be surprised if 1
out of 100 people actually 'take a shower' with soap

My club doesn't even have soap in the vicinity of the pool
shower...but, even the rinsing off does help. It helps to
remove chemicals from the hair, skin, and feet. In Germany,
they used to have a foot bath where swimmers dipped their
feet prior to getting into the pool. That seemed like a good
    idea to me.
