LAS VEGAS (AP) - Professional bodybuilder Craig Titus and his wife,
Kelly Ryan, were arrested Friday in Massachusetts as fugitives in the
slaying of a woman whose body was found last week in Ryan's burned-out
luxury car abandoned off a remote desert highway.

    Way to represent the "sport?"!

C,mon Brian this is BB. The dude was probably doing a stack of Test(
to make up for the raisins), 'Roids, Viagra (see Test),Pain
killers(getting benefit out of the drugs hurts a lot) and some good rec

Ya still haven't shown beyond a reasonable doubt (or even by a
preponderance) that he and/or his wife torched the car and the woman. Maybe
Arnold is the one who did it.

    JT

I remember him breaking into the sport, but quit paying attention a
long time ago. I think the last straw was meeting and talking to one of
the "new, clean, feminine" female BBs who was only about 22 at the
time, and did look really good in the magazines. It's amazing what an
airbrush can do. In person she needed a shave more than I did, had a
deeper voice than me, was covered with acne and scars including on her
back, not a pretty sight, and while I couldn't prove she had taken
steroids and possibly Test and Hgh the indicators were pretty clear.
The track record really does mirror Pro Wrestlings with all the deaths,
    arrests, and drug busts.
Brian I was amused by the parody, and yes I'm much less likely to give
bodybuilding types the benefit of the doubt. I wouldn't even begin to
guess at a percentage of the pro peleton doping, but I'd be shocked to
lose money betting that 90% or more of those on the Mr Olympia were
doped to the gills. Even the IOC backed away from it despite the
Weiders throwing tons of cash and favors at them. Samaranch must've
thought it was X-mas all year long for a couple of years.

Reminds me of a woman bodybuilder we'd pass when cycling on the levee near
Riverbend in New Orleans. She would have made a good lineman for a high
school football team. Really a very strange sight.

Not quite sure why you crawled back into the daylight again, I figured
with your hypersensitivity, and all that blood pouring,
indiscriminately, from your heart, you might have left us for good and
that wouldn't be much of a loss IMO.
Let's make a few easy links for you to follow, though I'd doubt you
ever get it since you're still apparently arguing that it's a great
thing to brutally embarrass children in public. Read the bit about
suicide being the 3rd leading cause of death in the 15-24 and keep
    subjecting those kids to ridicule.

    From:
    http://www.emaxhealth.com/25/1895.html

In reality, the risks of steroid use can include serious and
irreversible physical effects, as well as mental perils such as severe
depression, suicidal thoughts and behaviors, and violent aggression,
    known as "'roid rage."
He notes that suicide is the third-leading cause of death among people
ages 15-24. "This is an age group that is already at high risk," says
Brower, associate professor of psychiatry at UMHS. "When you add
steroids, you are increasing the risk of suicide."

Although the actual rate of adverse psychiatric effects is difficult to
measure, he notes that studies have found higher rates of psychiatric
effects among weight-training users of steroids than comparable
    non-users.

    Anabolic androgenic steroids and violence.

    Thiblin I, Parlklo T.

Department of Forensic Medicine, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm,
    Sweden.

OBJECTIVE: To scrutinize the criminal career among users of anabolic
androgenic steroids (AAS) with focus on a possible relationship between
use of AAS and violent offences. METHOD: Prospective longitudinal
follow-up of police records concerning known users of AAS. RESULTS: The
present study describes five young men who started to use AAS with the
primary motive of gaining muscle mass and strength and who subsequently
got involved in criminal activities, including violent offences. One
person showed deviant behaviour suggestive of conduct disorder at an
early age. The other persons appeared to have low self-confidence, but
had not been acting out during early adolescence. CONCLUSION: Use of
AAS may constitute an increased risk of developing an antisocial life
style with involvement in criminal violence.

A gym I used to go to had one former Mr. Olympia there (Chris

women's Olympia competitor there a lot too (Sharon Marvel) and she
didn't look unhealthy. This was 15 years ago.

with your hypersensitivity, and all that blood pouring,
indiscriminately, from your heart, you might have left us for good and
that wouldn't be much of a loss IMO.

In reality, the risks of steroid use can include serious and
irreversible physical effects, as well as mental perils such as severe
depression, suicidal thoughts and behaviors, and violent aggression,
    known as "'roid rage."
He notes that suicide is the third-leading cause of death among people
    ages 15-24.

This statistic is often misleading. The incidence of suicide among this
age group is lower when compared to the total adolescent/adult range.
The reason it shows up relatively high within the 15-24 age group is
because deaths due to cancer, heart attack and stroke etc. are obviously
    a lot lower.
Suicide incidence for ages 15-19 is 8.2/100,000 compared to 10.7/100,000
for all ages. Suicide in the younger age groups is more tragic than
suicide of an 85 year old with terminal cancer but the incidence is
    still lower.

What does this have to do with cycling? Maybe you should go back to
posting pictures of kids you think are fat and should be too ashamed
    to
    ride a bike.

Athletes misconduct, and especially when there may be a drug link sre
    alway on topic around here.

Phil that stat is per 100,000 people right? I wonder what it is as a
percentage of deaths in the age category. To me that would be a more
significant stat and judged that way it would seem to me to be even
more significant due to the lower threat from other factors.

This is a little old but:

    http://www.health.org/features/lgbt/suicide.aspx

Suicide is the third leading cause of adolescent mortality in the
United States, accounting for 13 percent of deaths between ages 15 and
    24. In 1996, more teenagers and young adults died of suicide than from
cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia and
influenza, and chronic lung disease combined. According to Fleischer
and Fillman (1995), a 1989 Department of Health Report on youth suicide
found that gay and lesbian youth are up to five times more likely to
attempt suicide. The increased risk among these youth is due to
isolation, rejection, confusion, and shame due to the stigmatization of
homosexuality, which results in depression, suicide, and low
    self-esteem.

This is just sick and helps make my case. Adults should have enough
sense not to engage in, or push kids into activities that are going to
contribute to the problems they are dealing with. Given a properly
managed situation anyone can be given a really positive experience,
Special Olympics is fantastic at this, but throwing people to the
    general public is just brutal.
We had a State mental Hospital here where several members of my family
worked. The shut it down and forced "mainstreaming" onto almost
eveyone. In a span of about 10 years the results were catastrophic for
the patients. A lot of them had been there for life, or at least long
periods, others needed significant care. Instead everyone but the most
difficult cases were either just turned loose with a disability check,
or run through "halfway" houses and dumped into apartments on their own
    with minimal support.
I don't have any hard figures, but since several of the former
patients used to stop by the house to talk with my grandfather we had a
pretty good idea what happened. A lot became homeless, or drug addicted
and died due to the inherent problems, quite a few suicided, a large
percentage were taken advantage of for their money, and a few did well.
The State failed to address their mental health needs honestly and was
mainstreaming as the cure all without dealing with the underlying
problems. This is what I see Hiawatha and his friends thinking is a
good idea for kids who have a weight problem.
The advocates who lobbied for the closing of the hospital still
celebrate it as a great success, but wont talk about the cost of the
    end result.

  20. CYCLING newsgroup, please don't forget.

As for the fat kids, it was you, not I, who made fun of the fat kids
riding bikes on the track. I would never make fun of fat kids since I
know what it's like to be teased as a kid.

OK back to your sanctimonious streams of consciousness now.
