Uh... why? He's in jail, hopefully for a very long time. I'd put posters up
for those who have been convicted of 2 DUIs, and are back out on the street.
I see no reason to show mercy to such people. At least not when that mercy
conflicts with public safety.

Of course, doing so would probably make such a person a hero in many places.

According to the story, he got a life sentence. That's a VERY long time, if
he really serves it all out. Answering your question, the message I hope to

Thanks, got it now. I was thinking more literally, in terms of a "wanted"
poster... someone who's presently out on the street, potentially dangerous.

Public shame wouldn't be a bad place to start either. Like they used to do
in Oakland, when they published the names of the customers, not just the
prostitutes. Not a place people would want to see their name!

Presently, there are *so* many people out there with serious drinking
problems, and somehow they get away with it, even after being caught DUI.
Friends & co-workers tend to laugh it off. I've seen such examples.
Too-rarely does anyone do any real time, particularly if they're not a
person of means. Drinking & driving is a public problem, and those who
choose to do so should suffer very public consequences. Even if we allow a
huge loophole and only go after those on their second DUI, I'll bet we'd
still see a pretty large number of people involved. Many with names that
might surprise people.

The scary thing about DUI is, how many times people do it before they're
actually caught. Of course some folks are caught the first time, but many
others probably drive drunk dozens or hundreds of times before they're
ever pulled over.

Having ridden a fair amount with Aussies, I'm not so sure they wouldn't
consider that an honor... well, not as much as the Kiwis in the group.
Perhaps that's why they "used to" publish the column?
