Yeah, but that attitude can be explained by our societies progression
towards avoiding individual responsibility at all cost. Someone else is
always to blame.

I was nearly wiped out in Kings Park on Sunday. Beautiful sunny day, was
in the middle of the lane in a stream of 10km/h traffic and a Camry
wagon pulls out of a side street as if I didn't exist. I swerved and
yelled "Hey!" and the [censored] flashed his lights at me as if I was somehow
at fault.

I like to think of it as positive reinforcement, like patting your dog
when he/she sits on command. Sure, maybe the driver was legally required
to give way or not overtake within the lane... but if you give them a
wave to show them you appreciate it, it might just give them some warm
fuzzies so they do it again next time.

Give the whale praise each time it does good and ignore it when it does not.
This is how they are taught to jump though hoops.

Interesting psychology that works for humans too. Be quick to reward good
behaviour, we all like a pat on the back and it makes us want to do more
good things.

I reward courteous motorists with a thumbs up, and although it makes my
blood boil I simply ignore the [censored] heads....
