Actually, there's a legit reason to do this beyond weight weeniehood and Sandra Bullock. I want to
switch from a triple to a double (and maybe back again, for one or two races) and I don't want to
shell big $ again for another pair of $!%!%#^% STI levers to do it. See the recent thread on
Dura-ace and Ultegra double and triple shifters.

yep and this has been done for years(since about 1989, Andy Hampsten comes to mind). Kudos to Trek
for sticking to downtube shifters bosses, instead of those stoopid headtube mounted things.
