    Was it mostly off road? the GPS track and the roads rarely coincide.

    Basically it is all off road. Mostly it is on the path of an old railway
    line and it's cool coming across abandoned stations ...

    It's only 40 miles, but seemed a lot harder especially as the wind was
    brewing up into a reasonable headwind on the last 10-15 miles. 🙂

    All in all, we were all smiles at the end, although there were a couple
    suffering. In fact, one of the regulars was suffering early on. I ended up
    donating my alpen bars which he reckoned worked really quickly.
