Dover-Durness

I should arrive in Dundee on 6th May, leaving the following morning. Can't
locate a camp site in/near Dundee at present. Anybody know of one?

Not sure which road is the Cairn-O-Mount road. I plan to leave Aberdeen on
the B961, followed by the B978, B9134, B966, B974, all joined together by
stretches on local roads. If the road is too steep I am not averse to
walking up the odd hill. Although I am not very fit my bike has been over
quite a few mountain passes under my own steam, even if not always in the
saddle!

There is a caravan park in Monifieth, a few miles east of the Tay Bridge.
Riverview Caravan Park, Marine Drive, Monifieth tel 01382 535471.

That is the only one I can find within a reasonable distance.

Some years ago I camped at Camperdown Park in Dundee. I have no idea
whether there's still a campsite there now, but a call to Dundee
tourist info should find something.

I can't find those on the on-line OS site. Ahh.. you mean Dundee, not
Aberdeen..

That is a good way to go. Except the last one (B974) which could give you a
bit of a walk (up to 3 miles) over Cairn O' Mount. If that seems too severe,
you could go via Stonehaven and round the end of the grampians to the Dee
Valley.

Cairn O'Mount is long and steep. It has little black chevrons on it for a

And there is a caravan park across the bridge in Tayport. Don't know if
they do passers-by though, it looks like a site full of identical
permanent caravans.

Our garden has enough lawn for a tent, and there is the indoors sofabed
option... Looking out right now I wouldn't like to be camping!
