There's a guy near where I live who is looking for other amputees to put together some sort of team.
Steve Cook's a bka lives in Salt Lake and works at Wildrose. He's a world champion in nordic skiing and was I think 5th in track cycling in the '96 paraolympics.
He's also one of the strongest mtn bikers in SLC. One or two legs.
Somewhere here alt.mountain-bike or rec.bicycles.tech I read a thread with reference to somebody who was a double amputee who rode fairly seriously.
My mother met a chap who'd lost both legs in the Gulf, but rode a recumbent handcycle; the front part detatched to make it a more conventional wheelchair.
Sadly, he was unable to complete his planned circuit of Iceland because of the difficulty of fording rivers. -- David Damerell <[email hidden]> flcl?

what do you do for a living?
UNIX sysadmin, but I don't see the relevance to amputee cyclists, to put it mildly. -- David Damerell <[email hidden]> flcl?

Just that I see a lot of your post in the rec.bicycles.tech newsgroup, thought you worked in a bike related environment.
You should hear him go on about things he's -really-, er, i n t e r e s t e d in.
Really. See.
