In domestic road and mountain bike races (say the Tour of Georgia, the Tour de'Toona the Durrango
NCS) are there any sort of doping controls? I assume if UCI events there has to be. What about those
that are not UCI but high profile races none the less.

I assume you mean US? In the UK doping controls are done in domestic races. In addition anyone who
is an Olympic contender can be controlled at any time. -
Tour of GA had doping controls.
Not sure about Durango.
The money is limited and USADA rations out the number of tests for each sport (USADA tests all
Olympic and Pan Am sports so that is a lot)."Raymo853" <[email hidden]> wrote in message "]news:[email hidden]...

The drug-testing truck should have stopped by Superweek. Some members of one team (which shall remain nameless) did VERY well there – but have not had the legs in other races. They made a lot of money in Wisconsin in two weeks.

I raced NCS#3 at mount snow this year.... no drug testing that i'm aware of. If they tested,
I assume they would test the winners...I wasn't tested and I know a few others and they were
not tested.I was told that there is random drug testing at the world cup MTB races in bromont, quebec ( coming
up next weekend).charlie

real, who can race from feb thru oct. Also look at how some of these people come from nothing build
to being the next roid-banging-pro cyclist.Do any of you remember Team Lycra? Now that was a roid rage team if there has ever been any.... Kurt
I have 30 inch thighs and break 10 seconds in the 200 meter time trial... Haha freaks on the needle. And don't get me started on Euro drug use. They get drugs mush easier then we can.

Just the ones that I know of: Sea Otter-every stage, Georgia-every stage, Wachovia-Lancaster &
Philly, US Road/TT Nationals, NYC Invitational, USPRO Crits........ Also, every rider that has ever
gone to the World's is on the out-of-competition list. Now, which team did well at Superweek, but didn't do well in any of the other events....?

Carl (Team Lycra 1988)
Carl, you mean to tell me Kurt H. (with 30" of meat) was not hitting the needle? I would bet the
house on that one. And I was at Jr. Natz when young Mr. Hartwell was a thin (rail thin) 3k rider.
Then when he came back from your team's winter program... Gained over 30lbs of lean muscle. Then
again I might be wrong with 30lbs it might be more then that. I have doubt you were talking juice at
the time since you never had a 20-50 lb weight gain. But then again who knows! That team rolled
around the United states looking more like a "college football" team then a pro track cycing team.Where is my proof... being inside of bicycle racing since 1979... I have heard about many of the
mexican winter training trips and some trips north (canada) for easy access buys. Here is a better question: How bad is the drug use at the international level and pro level within
the USA cycling programs and USpro?I remember back in the day someone putting caffine in the butt?? That was at SR. Track Natz in
Houston Texas 1988. Another place I was at.... thinking "WOW" how am I ever going to get that big! -

Did you ever meet Curt's parents? My parents had them over for brunch during the 87 Pan Am
Games. Both his parents are big, husky people. Curt looks like a chip off the old block, as the
saying goes.Quoted message said:

he could possibly be at that point. I don't know if it had to do with the type of muscle fibers he
had, but he could burn fat at an amazing rate. He was a rail thin 3k rider? I don't have a mental
picture of him as a junior, but he came to cycling after apole vaulting injury in high school. You
don't see many rail thin pole vaulters. He was a 3k rider because he was new to the sport and hadn't
really developed a speciality yet.Quoted message said:

I have now, but the 'juice' comes in twist-off 12 oz bottles.

who lives or trains within a hundred miles of a border must be a doper. That _must_ be the reason
the OTC is within about 10 miles of the Mexican border, right?Quoted message said:

Means nothing. The first winter I lifted weights I gained 20 lbs of LBM, and wasn't particularly
dedicated.Quoted message said:

Interesting. What's available in Canada that you can't get at home? -
I've been tested twice at World Cup/World Championship selection track races this year. We've had
testing at all of them, there was testing at Elite Road and Crit. I presume there will be testing at
this weeks Elite Track Nats.jd

I wonder if he's talking about ABD? As I recall they were the only amateur team there that was
really doing well. But I don't know that they haven't had the legs anywhere else . . . they seem to
do all right any time I see them race. I personally don't think there is any reason to suspect that
they were on anything for superweek (or for any other race)."Martin Verstrunk" <[email hidden]> wrote in message

Carl, you're right--I'm wrong. No one in cycling does drugs. None of your teammates ever have. I'm
sorry, but I have large parents... You know them I'm pretty sure. (Father was the first super rep
for the USCF; Mother was a race promoter/ offical/ Midwest Flyers publisher) When I was racing full
time, I was 229 lbs at 6'7". I'm a good half-foot taller than Kurt. He weighed as much as me, if not
more. In the past 10 years of heavy duty weightlifting, I have met a lot of drugs users at the local
gyms in the Chicagoland area. It seems to me that drugs are a bigger part of the real world and
cycling than we would like to fathom. I know you want to defend your buddies, but we both know that
there are some that have been on "The Program." -

You have yet to provide anything that would constitute proof.
As I said in my preceding post, "I'm not saying it doesn't happen. But I'm not pointing fingers at

Even today Eric has big quads and he's hardly training at all. His VO2max above 80 wasn't
drug-assisted either.-WG

You can make generalizations about cycling as a whole but it's not fair to point fingers at
individuals without proof. It's OK to speculate, but label it as such. Point enough fingers and you'll point a few at people
who were clean.
