Well, that's painting with a pretty broad brush. For example, look at Minor Threat (from DC).
Those guys were at the forefront of the 'straight-edge' deal (no drinking, no drugs) and
their shows are renowned for being powerful and generally incredible. On the other hand,
another band from the same era and basic locale, the Bad Brains, were equally strong
