Nope, I've ridden at that time...it's usually a pretty quiet road. I've never really seen much traffic up there at all. I was planning a trip up there on Sunday but decided to go to the Dandenongs instead because of the smoke. Still, 4 climbs in 38 degrees with smoke in the lungs wasn't that pleasant.

I've never had any traffic probs up it... just keep a look out for the water hoarders....

No traffic probs likely on the climb itself.

The Warburton Highway is a different matter if you're riding out to the climb. Best avoided IMHO

The Warburton Highway is a different matter if you're riding out to the
climb. Best avoided IMHO

I've never had a problem on the Warburton hwy. If you're not happy
riding in traffic, you can always risk kids, dogs, horses, gumbies etc
on the rail trail.

Maybe I'm a coward but while I'm more than comfortable commuting in suburban traffic I'm never that sanguine on busyish 100 kph speed limit roads with single lanes and dodgy shoulders

I've had plenty of encounters with those locals.... using those exact words repeatedly. Must be in the water. The ride would be great without the abuse and intimdatory driving tactics frequently used. I find the horse riders and dog walkers much more polite and considerate, although I prefer to use the road.
