Donating road bike....

Don't know if this is exactly what you're looking for but I'm sure the william and mary cycling team would be able to put it to use.

Contact your local sherrif's dept or police dept. They work with youth programs all the time that rehab bicycles and give them out as prizes.

Also, contact the boys and girls club in your area. They love to have stuff like that to give out.

they're an organization in houston that get kids involved in after school bike programs, some of the kids are making their own chopped bicycles

it may be a way's away from most people, but if you did send in the parts they would definetly be put to good use

Contact a few of your local bike shops. The one I frequent takes donated bikes. They give out tax receipts, fix up the bikes around the holidays and then pass them out to the local shelters and childrens organizations. My wife and I een helped pick a few up for them last year.

I would say Shriners
they accept all kinds of donations and all go to kids who can use them
most of these kids would never have most of the stuff they give out
from donations

To answer one of the posts....I am certainly not done with riding. My interests have shifted from racing/competition to touring. I am currently planning on a transcontinental tour. As much as I LOVE riding, the competition bug has stopped biting. I will stay involved with the sport - I am a USA Cycling certified coach and a strength and conditioning coach.

I will certainly take all of your suggestions in locating a home for this good bike.
