  1. Although it was code, it was a nice sunny day, so I decided to at least go on the workout ride. I
dressed the part based on previous workout rides, but those were wintertime rides when the trails
are wet (road rides). Light jackets, shorts. As I neared the top, I noticed the snow. No problem; by
this time I'd been climbing awhile and already ditched the jacket. That didn't last long.

The descents were painful. Any bit of exposed skin simply hurt. The sweat from the climbs made it
even worse. The jacket was great for the parts that it covered, but that wasn't much.

Finally making it down in the valley was fantastic. I stopped on the roadside and baked for a few
minutes. All but my knees changed from purple to red (they stayed purple). Lesson learned: bring
extra stuff if you're going up very far.

I know it must be freezing up there because it's getting very chilly here in Socal.

Its all relative, of course. What you guys think is cold, we probably think is pretty damn nice. And
what I think is cold would be like springtime for some of these midwest guys!

It's 85 degrees here in Florida. Still. In No-frikkin-vember. I could only wish it would snow...
