My local shop generally can't beat the base price, but can usually beat the price + shipping cost for many of the accessories I've bought from them.

Why reduce the low margin you already use? Why make bike things a matter of price instead of service and knowledge? There is no reason to 'support your local bike shop' if that shop is just a delivery place for parts and not a source for good information and expert service.
