Loved it. Pooch did the swim sans wetsuit.

Congrats to "Jake" the dog. He accomplished something that's beyond what

Don't know, but it certainly seems to
be a dropped elbow stroke. Of course
dogs run on all four legs, so one would
think they don't have any turkey meat.

A) Dogs don't have arms, they have legs*.

B) in the dog family, if you assume the anatomical position to be that of
the normal stance, the triceps lateral head is on the lateral side of the
brachialis, the long head is to the rear and above that, and the medial head
is (as might be expected) on the medial sidetowards the rear. None of these
muscles can be considered to be "on the front", given the assumption of a
standard anatomical position as above.

This is an excellent point, and may explain why the dog was able to do
so well. I wonder how well the dog paddle recapitulates the normal
walking/running movements of the dog; in other words, does the dog use
the same muscles for swimming as he/she/it uses for walking/running?

Maybe your dogs only have legs, but my lab definitely had arms. And she
used them in a distinctly Larry style.

Larry: her limbs never reached the outstretched position in water as
they did on land.

If any of you ever swims at Aquatic Park in San Francisco you may see a
friend of mine and her golden retriever swimming circuits (~1km?) in the
inlet. He (the dog) is hard to miss because he barks almost
continuously while he swims.

I recognize Patty's technique. I've seen a photo of Jannet Evans
lopping that Larry has posted several times. Is Patty a lopper too, or
does she keep her head above water all the time? I think that if we
send Patty to TI camp, she might learn to swim with her head completely
under water and just keeping her nostrils above the surface. She needs
to point her paws more during the dive and lock her elbows. Her arch is
good though.
