My friends think I'm crazy because I'm always washing my bike. Am I the only one here?

Define "always". If it means more often than once a week, yeah, you may be pretty much the only one.
-
Yeah, around once a week.

I wipe mine down with a wet rag now and then, when it starts looking really dirty. Most of the road dirt here is granite, so it doesn't stick once it's dry. It's kind of nice because even when I get soaked and covered with it on a rainy day, once it dries, it will just dust off my coat and purse without leaving anything noticable behind.
I probably should keep my bike a little cleaner than I do though. Probably better for it to not get stay dirty for so long.

The important thing to clean is your drive train. I run the chain through a shop cloth after every ride, and once a week I'll pop the rear wheel off and "floss" the cassette. Once a month I'll remove the cassette entirely and give it a thorough cleaning, and run the chain through a Park Tool chain cleaner. Odorless mineral spirits do a great job.
I don't wash the frame nearly as often. Maybe if I get caught in a downpour and it gets all crapped up with road grit.
-
I don't becuase I don't need to. I most likely cycle on clean parts of the town and clean streets.
-
If you are washing your bike more then like once every 2 weeks you're probably overdoing it.
-
I rarely wash my bike, sometimes I'll wipe it down but for the most part my bike stays pretty clean.
-
I now have a ti bike so now I just wipe it down with either windex or 409 then follow up with a rag I sprayed WD40 on and wipe the frame down.
-
if I have enough time to wash my bike then I am going to go for a ride instead.
-
No, you are not the only one! I wash mine once a week on a Sunday and yes even if it has not been ridden since the last wash. I have OCD (diagnosed ) so I can't stand the idea of it being dirty, it makes me quite angry.
-
I never wash my bike. Unless you count riding in the rain every now and then. I don't really understand the point of washing a bike, but if you do it then more power to you.
-
I wash mine once a week and in addition any time I feel it is dirty. I just like it to look clean and nice. How often is always for you?
-
I don't really wash my bike, but I do give it a good hose down with pretty strong water pressure once in a while. I live in a pretty clean city and cycle short distances which are pretty clean, so it's pretty unnecessary for me to wash my bike regularly.
-
I don't do it often, but I do wash my bike every now and then. For example, when I go camping I ride my bike all over the place and it gets crazy dirty. It gets a good scrubbing when I get home. :p That's pretty much the only time I actually wash it, but I usually spray it with the hose before putting it away for the winter.

I love washing my bike. I do not feel co.fortable in public with a dirty bike. I don't think it is weird to wash your bike at all.
-
I only clean the parts that will wear out if you don't. Clean the chain weekly (maybe, lol) and I try to re grease and clean my single speed hub at the start and end of every season. I have a friend that refuses to clean his downhill bike. But it runs just as good as any cleaned up one so maybe the cleaning is more for us than it is for the bike.
He also got chirped out when he took it to the LBS. They charged him an extra $30 "cleaning fee" and told him this is not a bike wash bring it in clean next time. -
Yes, of course, we have to clean our bikes. Mine is kept inside the house so it cannot be dirty particularly with mud on the tires. But when I have no time to spare, I just leave my bike in the garage and let the maids do the cleaning for me. Mind you, it's only me who can use that bike... because it is mine, hahahaaa.

I wash it but what I've been doing with it depends on the frequency. If I've been mainly going on roads & it's been pretty dry then I'd wash it once every 2 months or something? If however I've been riding along trails after it's been raining or it's been really dry for a while then I will wash off all the collected dust & dirt every two weeks or so.
I know it's silly but after riding along really dry or muddy trails I like the look of my bike with all the mud splatter all over it. Give me a sort of proud feeling!

Yes I do, but not a lot of times.
