You've already been fooled into thinking that the watt "rating" is a useful means of comparison
between these kinds of appliances. Knowing that most consumers incorrectly think that the "watts" of
an appliance has something to do with effective power delivery, this figure is intentionally used to
deceive buyers by manipulating the value to achieve a perceived benefit where none exists. So long
as the marketers don't understate the power requirements (possibly causing unexpected circuit
overload), they are free to use the least efficient motors possible and then quote the absolute peak
power demand (usually the startup or stall current/power demand) to get the highest possible value
for power consumption, rounded up to the nearest 50 or 100 watts.

It would be like comparing two vehicles based on how much fuel they consume per hour instead of
their actual road performance characteristics for the intended purpose.

Feel free to prove that the Ronco rotisserie offers the best value/performance, and I'll be happy to
revise my opinion to make it the exception. I'd like to see a fair comparison of all the rotisseries
that are commonly available on the market. I don't think I would actually purchase an electric
rotisserie vs. a Kamado grill, but it would be interesting information nevertheless.

I just bought a nice one...Sunbeam...at Wal-Mart for $39. Works great!

Thanks for the info. That sounds like a better price than the Roncos usually go for, so it seems to
further confirm my experience that "seen on TV" products aren't the best value.

I've never seen the Ronco up close. But, on TV, it looks like very good quality.

The one I bought at Wal-Mart looks kinda tinny...especially the door opening mechanism. But I don't
have any kids around to abuse it. So, for me, it was the better value. Only time will tell how many
chickens and roasts I can do in it for the $39 investment.

I've bought a LOT of things from TV ads...never been disappointed. The latest thing I bought
recently is that Ready Strip paint remover. Just one fine product!! I don't think they even SELL it
yet in the stores. But I'd never go back to any other kind of liquid paint stripper.

I buy most of my cooking stuff on QVC...and have had only minor complaints over the years. Of
course, I'd never buy those steaks...at $1 million a pound!!! lol
