Bit clueless about the connection here, still...[but there again I
miss quite a bit here]

This was on 5Live today, one of todays news topics. Personally, I'm
more likely to be activated by this subject than by many others
[remaining in apathy for the most part], and I'm not prepared to say
on which side of the divide I stand, save to say that those who reside
on the opposite side of the divide are just simply dumb idiots :-)

Here in Denmark we had the same opposition against wind turbines in the
eighties.

20% of Denmark’s electrical energy consumption is currently covered by wind
energy and by 2010 it’ll be 30%.

There is some debate about when we will reach 50 % - but it’ll probably be
around 2020.

The public is generally very positive about wind energy – especially after
they have started with offshore wind farms although there still are a couple
of unfortunate placed big land based wind turbines – especially the noise
and shadows of the spinning rotor can be a nuisance.

I wish you good wind on the bike lanes and for your wind turbines over there
in England.

The anti-windies here (Mid Wales) keep telling us that Denmark has abandoned
it's wind energy programme. Is this not true, then?

Perhaps I shouldn't believe them when the tell me that no tourists will ever
come here again, that the value of my house will halve (not a bad thing in a
low wage economy, come to think of it) and that the rotating blades will
knock all of the birds out of the sky.

Cool. We could do with some more over that way. That's Calderdale
blocked off to the South by them. Then there's the windfarm over in
Rosendale being built and the two over toward Burnley. A couple over
toward Halifax and with all that wind being harnessed I might get less
of a headwind on the way home.

Very interesting, with all the WindFarm FUD I did not realise that such
a large proportion of electrical energy generation could be covered by
wind power. Our government are too busy fighting 1950s stylie oil wars.

Do the other 50% with nuclear, job done. :-)

Denmark has the advantage of a much lower population density than UK.

What we need right now is conversion of hot air.

Oh come on, there has to be some local advantage. I mean, all the
electricity goes to Manchester and Leeds so reducing local wind is our
last advantage.
